Some people don't need to drive a dually...

I was coming out of Franklin, Ky yesterday down I-65 and had a fella pass me in a duramax dually with a enclosed trailer. No big deal, but I glanced out the window(cause I saw something weird on the back fender from my mirror) as he went by.......HOLY COW!!! I did'nt know they made that much duck tape!! The whole front section of the fibreglass fender was duck tape....actually other than the distinct duck tape grey he did a good job of patching it. So a few miles down the road, back in good ol' Tennessee he was stuck behind some guy with no place to go so I passed him on the left and HOLY COW!!!! He had completely ruined the rear portion of the driver side fibre fender!! Half of it was missing, strands of stuff hanging down, back wheels hanging out like yesterdays laundry. I thought, man, this guy needs to either drive a tank, or get out of that dually!!

or perhaps some drunk driver sideswipped the dually while it was parked in front of their house....

I saw a white QC dually at the gun shop today, apparently, they were in a hurry to get in, they took two parking places in front of the door and effectively blocked anyone from getting around.
This particular gun shop has a really small parking lot that will hold maybe 20 vehicles, its U shaped around their sign. this guy parked right at the front doors so you couldn't get between him and the sign.

Did you hear "Dueling Banjos" when you drove by it? Isn't KY a little far North to have such "southern engineering"? (no offense to your southern boys!) At least his back winder wasn't duck tape and seran wrap like that Honda I saw the other day. It was exceptional craftsmanship!

or perhaps he ran over a rock that got wedged between the duals and shot up and blew out the fender... happens often enough

it's amazing how rough some of the new trucks at the job site look. i'd treat a new expensive truck alot better than they do, and if i had an employee beating a company truck up like they do, they'd no longer be an employee.

Well you know accidents happen. I busted one of my fenders last winter when I was goose hunting. Tried to back around my small box trailer after we unloaded all the gear into a chisel plowed field (very deep ruts) that was frozen, one of the trailer tires caught in one of the ruts and I watched the trailer bounce into my fender! Needless to say I was a little ticked off! It was like it was in slow motion and I had already hit the brakes! It took me dang near 4 months to get it replaced becuase I did it myself to save on my insurance. Anyway, I'm still a little bitter that I did that one, oh well live and learn.

Whats a $40K truck when its parked next to a $120K dump truck, $200K bull dozer, $10K trailer?

I have a cousin that drives a dump truck, he was at a job site when the boss pulled in behind him in a just off the lot Chevy 1/2 ton. My cousin backed his Triaxle Sterling over that chevy. Jumped out of the truck, cussed, quit, threw the key to his boss, swore he would never drive again. His boss had the truck pushed up on an equipment trailer and hauled it to salvage and went and bought another. Gave the keys back to my cousin and took responsiblity for parking behind the dump truck.

Sometimes it is not there fault and sometimes it is becuase the treat it like the truck they bought it for ,a work truck. My dad's buddy was pushing back snow piles with his Dodge DRW and a boulder of snow came down and smashed his pass. side fender. That was 2-3 years ago and there is still a chunk missing and another pieces almost fully cracked out, He has not fixed it becuase it is his work truck and does not need to spend 1,200 on a new fender.

Oh, I can see wanting to pinch every penny you can. but when you consider my cousins boss will blow 10K in a casino in a night, A new truck is a good night in the casino or its staying out of the casino a couple days.

Have any of you guys been in the military? If you want trashed trucks there you go. We've got '05s that you'd swear were 10 years old. If people don't own the truck then they just don't care. We also have a lot of crew cab 3/4 and 1 tons. The people driving them usually drive Hondas and have no idea how to handle one.
