Some days you just have to laugh! LONG

Zipped the truck down to the dealer this afternoon for it's oil change. Everything went as usual, checked in, drove the truck into the shop, went up front to the showroom to wait for it.

This is a small 3 car showroom dealer, so the waiting area is about 25-30 feet from the service area.

I'm sitting there waiting patiently when I hear my truck start up. Obviously, the tech started it to check for any leaks. After it started, I also heard a big boom and a whole bunch of commotion.

HHMMMMM.......Service writer comes out into the waiting area......"Jeff, could you come back here, we had a bit of an accident" Ends up the tech started the truck while standing beside the truck. He just pushed the clutch in with his hand and then let it out. Well the truck was in gear. Truck drove up against the workbench and pushed it thru the wall. Because the door was open, when the truck went forward thru the posts of the lift, somehow it caught the drivers door and rolled the window frame outwards as well as creasing the sheetmetal pretty good. Door doesn't touch the weatherstripping at the top anymore.

Anyways, it was an accident, I can't really get mad, it's just one of those things. Truck is going into the bodyshop Monday morning, Dealer will pay for whatever it takes to get it fixed. They even ordered a new door shell if it's needed. I get a rental for how ever long it takes. Fine, off I go to finish my business. I'll drop the truck off Monday and pick up the rental.

Head over to the recycle depot to drop off a bunch of stuff. Empty everything out and head home. As I'm backing into my parking spot at home, CRUNCH!! forgot to put the tailgate up and I backed into the tree. Top of the tailgate is totalled, won't close now.

Truck is going into the bodyshop to get the door fixed Monday, so I drive down there to see about getting the tailgate fixed at the same time. They look at it, no problem, will get it done while the truck is there for the door. Awesome!! Out the door I go.

Get into the truck, fire it up, glance at the fuel pressure guage. Lift pump isn't lifting anymore!!!! It's dead. Call the dealer, no problem, it's warranty. They just can't change it until tomorrow. They will give me the pump if I want to change it myself.

So after all this, truck is sitting in the driveway with about $1300 worth of sheetmetal damage, it's about -40 right now and I get to change the lift pump tonite!!

Somedays you just have to laugh!!! As the old saying goes..."It could always be worse"

Oh boy , That sounds like something that would happen to me.

Thats why I do my own oil changes...you really cant trust a LOT of shops (dealers included). Just changed my oil and fuel filter last week in that horrible cold. Have to do the tranny but dont really feel like laying down on the cold concrete

The worst thing is that the door seal will likely be worse now.

If you lived out east here you wouldnt have to worry about backing into trees....you can see them for miles

Yes, Be thankful for what is, and not what has. Just be happy things are getting taken care of for you.

It's cold out there!!

Just thought I'd warm up a bit. My dealer has been awesome to me so I can't really freak on them. They will look after me, I'm not worried about it.

A couple of weeks ago, I was buzzing along the highway coming back into town and I just happened to notice the Check Engine light flash on and off. That's all it did, on and then off. I drive right by the dealer on the way to my house so I stopped in. Pulled around back to the bay doors and walked in to the shop. One of the techs I know asked me what was up and I told him. They put the DRB on it and the code that was stored was for the APPS. It was changed out on the spot under warranty. How can you complain when they treat you like that!

I'm not worried about the truck, they will make it right.

Well, back out to finish the lift pump install. I hate winter sometiimes!!!! LOL!!!

Several years ago we had an '84 Chevy Suburban. We live 35 miles from Albuquerque and left the house at about 6 am going to work. We had covered maybe 5 miles when the Suburban quit. The fuel pump died. We start walking home when I see a guy coming towards me I recognized and flagged him down. He gave us a ride back to our house to get our car - an '83 Buick Skylark. We get the car and tow rope and headback to get the Suburban to drag it home - with the Skylark. We get to the Suburban and tie the rope to both vehicles and have to make a u-turn on a slightly hilly, curvy two-lane country road. No problem. My wife is driving the Skylark and I'm in the Suburban with no power steering or anything. We finally get the Suburban home, wash up and start heading back to work - now about 45 minutes late. About two weeks previously, the speedometer in the Skylark quit and I hadn't had time to fix it. We are back on that same two-lane road cruising along when a NM State Policeman meets me, looks at me, and turns on his go-fast lights (those red & blue blinking/flashing ones). I pull over onto the shoulder and he walks up and says something like, "Sir, the speed limit on this road is 45 mph - you were doing 55. May I see your driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance, please?" I hand him the documents he requested and explained, "Did you see the Chevy Suburban about two miles ahead of us. We left home about 45 minutes ago and the fuel pump quit. We got a ride home to get our car so we could tow the truck home, get cleaned up, and now get to work. Additionally (and I told a small lie here), at the traffic light behind us, the needle on the speedometer on our car shot over to the far-right peg and then dropped back to zero. I have no idea how fast I was going - I thought I was going about the speed limit." He looked at me, and smiled, and let us go with a verbal warning. I guess he figured I had already had a bad enough day already and hadn't gotten to work, yet.

I'd hate to be that poor grease monkey! He may be out looking for a position at Jiffy Lube come Monday. Was your tree insured.

that's what I usually call "a bad day at work"

reminds me of the time I backed into a 20' stack of 16' pallats with my driver's door open... bent it all the way backward... with 20 people watching!!

Sorry to hear your troubles if Olds were a wee bit closer I would offer my heated gargage to switch ou the LP. Hopefully the truck is good after, I am not sure who to feel for you or the poor guy who started the truck, I bet he filled his pants.

Pump is in, works great!! 18psi at idle, won't go under 14 psi screaming up the Cochrane hill. It's amazing how fast you work when your numb!!!!!

The tree is fine. Actually for those that want to know. I back up to the tree and bump the trailer hitch against it because I have about $10,000 worth of carpentry tools in the back. That's why it was a no brainer to back into the tree until you feel the "bump" Only this last time, I was a foot and a bit from the "bump"

The dealership is cool with it all, it was an accident. Yeah, the tech felt like a toad but as I said to him "It's not like you came to work to wreck my truck, it was a fluke thing"

It can all be fixed! Besides, I could own one of the PowerlessStrokes sitting at the local Ford dealer with no motors in them!!!

Could have been worse!
