The first thing you do if there is any kind of incident while driving a rental car. The first thing. Call your credit card company and tell them you lost the card yesterday.

They will stop ALL charges from that time forward and issue you a new card with a different number.

Meanwhile continue your trip with all charges on diferent card while you wait for the replacement.

might work if I carried more than two cards. I have my corporate card that the company pays and my personal card.
This is however, why I dont have a debit card.
