So my boss wants to race me...

My boss has a '01 3/4 ton Dodge 2wd with the V10 But he loves it and thinks its really fast. He admits that I could out pull him on a hill but says he can beat me in a 0-60 race (or maybe 0-80). As you can see in my signature Ive got a bone stock 04.5 4x4 and want to know if you guys think Ive got any chance whatsoever in beating him or at least hanging with him to shut him up!!! Just a friendly race but I dont want to do it if hes going to embarass me.

Any thoughts are welcome.

Since your stock fueled he will out pull you on the flat and level. But you have 4wd! Put it in 4hi, hold the brake and build boost. You will out run him for the first 60'. Might surprise him! Don't worry have fun and go for it.

I dont know..buy a chip or programmer and just whoop his butt!

Its worth it really. But to answer your question, he might have you, but Ive never driven the V10, but it is a big motor, and he doesnt have to wait to spool. Now if you do a boosted stock launch....maybe?

yeah, never really "misstreated" my truck, dont spin the tires, never done a boosted launch, never done a 4wd launch, never really raced anyone (just a new tundra from a 25mph roll, stayed neck and neck) Thanks for the tips.

Those v-10's are pretty mean for a stock truck. Dont you remember Walker-Texas Ranger ramping cactus and racing down the bad guys?

Anyway, you are going to have to intimidate him into spinning out. Is it a dually? You MUST do a 4x4 boosted launch or he will get you. The v-10's are geared pretty low and that motor revs up real quick compared to your diesel.

Just borrow a friends Smarty and you will clean his clock.

Your done without some electronic help.

I used to have a V-10....Not very fast, but will beat a stock common rail.

Ditto. Mine had the MP Computer, crane cam and 1.7 rockers, EH's heads and intake.

That V-10 will smoke a stock CRD on the straight and level.

Yep a downloader will fix your problem. Talk him into a tug. you can drag him as far as you want once he starts spinnin. That is the best way to make him tuck his tail.

I dont have first hand experience with the v10 but two guys that work for me raced in the same senario, same truck as you but lwb against a 2000 454 chevy. The Dodge smoked him.

Thanks for the input, dont have a buddy with a smarty, closest thing I could get my hands on would be the superchips flashpuke. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get the Smarty Jr. I Did want to wait until a TC and VB were in the tranny.

Talk your boss into a little bet(DISCLAIMER: WE HERE AT DTR DO NOT PROMOTE GAMBLING) anyway, a little bet for some $. Go buy the Smarty and the $ you win will help fund the Smarty. Do not tell him you have the Smarty, my God, he has 4 more cylinders, you should be able to cheat a little bit. Let us know how it goes, if you can type w/ the huge grin on your face after you whip him w/ the Smarty!

Here at DTR also don't condone or encourage "Street Racing".

Make sure you take it to the track.
