Sittin here at work, and...
...Taps plays. (2200)
The other day, we were outside when morning colors went, and we all stood at attention and saluted... After the music ended, one of my junior Marines said, "Dang, SSgt, don't you ever get tired of doing that?"
I told him no, that every morning that Old Glory went up, it was another great day for America.
Just thinkin outloud...
Semper

Nah, these young kids need someone to teach them what it's all about... a lot of them did not have great families to teach them. He did not ask me in a bad way.
Remember, gents, we need to teach them... it ain't like the old days when everyone in the neighborhood raised us.

I nearly cried aloud when my oldest daughter (6yo)came home from school one day and she told me how proud she was that she got to lead the school in the Pledge of Allegiance. She signs up to do it every week. Makes me very proud.

Nothing bad implied here. It's the job of the elder generation to teach the next generation the lessons they've learned so some of the mistakes can be avoided. Pride is usually instilled by example.
Maybe this country does have a bit of fight left.....may as well lead it.
I was on my first deployment and it was a quite night and I was on the mid watch, and as I was making my rounds I heard the flag popping in the wind and I just stopped and stared at it and this sence of pride blew up inside me, I can't describe the feeling, but I sure can remember it...
