Shop Lighting
Shop Lighting
Thinking ahead I'm looking for ideas for indoor shop lighting, we are currently having a 30x40 shop built. The forms are down ready to go, but the wet weather has halted the concrete slab being poured here lately. It will have 14ft walls with two 12x12 ft roll-up doors and one 10x10 roll-up door. We are planning on building a loft in one corner for our junk storage items. If anyone has any pics of their shop lights or any web links to a good source of economical lighting. Thanks
Tony

Shop lights are like tool boxes and cigar humidors. Figure a size/number you think will work, then double that and that should get you close to what you'll want. I'd cram as many lights as you can up there and wire them to 2 or 3 seperate switches so you can only turn on a few of them until you need all of them on.
I just did a lighting job for a buddy's shop. The shop is 32x60 with a mezanine and an office. I hung (8) 4 lamp, 4' long t5 flourescents with 54 watt lamps at 13'0" AFF. Each fixture is the the equivalent of a 400W metal halide HID, but run at less than half the amperage.. It is beautiful in there! The lamps burn at 8000k and and have a color rendition of 96. Fixtures were from Stonco, $117 per unit shipped to the door.
