I just recently used McNutt Transport.
I chose them because their pricing was mid-range (Not the cheapest, not the most expensive) and they were very friendly to work with.
Their hub was also located near me.

However, I placed my order with them the 2nd week of September and wanted my truck picked up the last week of September with an expected delivery date the first week of October.
Long story short, they could not find a driver to take my truck.
Even though I had to move on, my truck sat until the third week of October before they finally found a driver that would take my truck to Los Angeles. (500 miles from me - but closer).
I then had to have my brother-in-law drive it the remaining 500 miles to me.

In all, Im not sure thats McNutts failing or just bad timing with the truck routes. But in the end, it was a very unpleasant experience as I had to borrow cars from friends until my truck arrived.

I will give credit to McNutt in that they were always very friendly, always kept in touch with daily status calls (After I requested such calls) and always apologetic for not being able to deliver quicker.

FedEx Custom Critical would be worth looking at. They are akin to couriers, but without the bicycles. Whatever size truck you need, exactly when needed, and your item is the only thing in the truck. The hardest part would be loading and unloading it : they run dock height trucks for the most part.

I used DAS dependable auto shippers several years ago to ship a pontiac gran prix from Illinois to west texas for $500. Very pleased but again that was close to 8 years ago.
