September 1st is Almost Here...

...and that means two things.

1) College football.
2) Dove season.

I can't wait for either one.

Yep went scouting for doves yesterday. Found a nice wheat field covered in sunflowers. It was full of doves. I can't wait until Saturday.

The field across from my parents' place had maize planted in it this year. My dad said they just harvested it, but the stalks are still there and there's a lot of grain still on the ground. I'm hoping that and the tank nearby will draw enough birds to our little fence line to keep my 4 year old and I happy for a little while.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with a little one who likes to shoot.

Actually this will be his first hunt...and he won't be shooting. I just want to take him along with me to spend a little quality father/son time. While he won't be carrying a gun (at least not a real one), I DID get him some camo to wear so he could be just like dad.

My three year old daughter obviously doesnt actually shoot anything besides her plastic cap guns but she loves to go. I just meant its nice to know I dont have the only little kid in the world who isnt afraid of the noise guns make all my neices and nephews are scared of the racket. It embarrases my wife that Hanna wants to talk about hunting or shooting instead of being a little lady. Here she is with her first squirell those cap guns really pack alot of punch.

Hehehe...I know the feeling. My son and one of his friends were playing with water guns one day and I heard my son tell him to hold on a minute while he "cleared his weapon." I was so proud.

He doesn't mind the noise. I've taken him with me several times to shoot pistols out in the country. He always stayed in the back of the truck and watched while I shot.

Not only the "castle doctrine", but also the new law removing the "traveling" clause and thereby making it legal to have a handgun in your vehicle even if you're just driving to the grocery store and back. Basically, on Saturday your vehicle becomes an extension of your home and you no longer need a CHL to have a handgun in your vehicle (there are a few restrictions but for most people that won't be a problem.

I was aware of the Thursday night games, but my Ags play on SATURDAY!! WHOOP!
