This Seller knows how to word an ad...

He's obviously been burned too many times.....

[I]Seller's Comments
This truck is VERY rusty and needs new brake lines...it also needs quite a bit of bodywork. The fenders are rusty...the doors are rusty...the bed is very rusty and it's rusty underneath...this truck does not pass New Hmapshire state inspection...and since I am not a licensed inspector for any other state...please don't ask me if it passes your state inspection...how would I know?? This truck will need to be towed away...although the engine runs excellent, the clutch is strong and the drivetrain is fine...I won't let anyone drive a vehicle without brakes....I have already had people ask me...please don't ask...If you don't have a tow truck...you can rent my tow dolly for fifty dollars...with a five hundred dollar deposit that will be returned when the dolly is returned. Only cash will be accepted for this purchase...please don't inquire about financing....some people already have...don't be silly....it's cash in full...the payment plan is called "One Lump Sum." Kinda sounds like a Chinese dish huh?? These vehicles are being exported to many Central American countries and they are getting hard to find..our price is firm so please don't ask us to take less....we sell dozens of these trucks and we know what they are worth. This vehicle is worth a small fortune in parts alone...I could sell it in parts for a lot more...call quick before it's gone.

Just imagine the inquiries this guy received and the number to have to resort to an ad like this.

The term "brutally honest" comes to mind when reading that! In someways I actually appreciate someone like that. They are straight forward and honest and not trying to hide anything or polish up a terd!

Every hard core DCTD owner knows what truck this is....or what his will be soon enough.

I'm saving this one for the day when my kids take my keys away for my own and everyone else's good. That is if the truck still needs keys to run. more

Sorry - I at first inadvertantly put a link to the ad itself - but that's no-no which I should have remembered.

It's a '91 Toyota 4wd Short-bed with a 3.0L V-6 and a 5-speed. Actually from what I've understoond the V-6, while smooth and torquey, had troublsome headgaskets & overheating issues, and they tended to drink gasoline at a phonenomial rate. It was so bad in those years that a former Toyota technicion recommended I avoid that engine altogether and look for a 22-RE 4-cylinder instead.

So this guy is realistic, but he's also a bit optimistic on that price, too. I saw the pictures, it was really rusty!!

I should have known it was a toyota when the seller mentioned the part about "exported to many Central American countries". Those are hot items for some reason. I can understand the seller's add though, I felt that way about the 6-7 stupid call on that stinkin' neon we had. If we had not have sold it when we did the next caller would have gotten something like this guy has written.

96 12V, how much was he asking? NH isn't too far from me, and if the price is right, I may just have to buy a new toy.

By the way, one of my Toyota's was a '92, but the poor truck didn't live long enough to have head gasket problems. My '94 had a recall for the head gaskets, but they didn't let go until over 160k or so, only then I had the recall performed. All of my Toyota's got fairly respectable gas mileage in the summer, but winter is another story.

I had a 92 before I got the Dodge.....and yup, all of the above. Head gasket at 104K, overheating after that, and a consistent 14-15 MPG. I do better than that with a 7K# truck on 37's.............with more than twice the HP and 6X the torque..

I like the ad, that's the type of person I like to buy from.

In my ads to sell my vehicles it goes something like this "no tire kickers please, private seller no gimmicks, $xxxxx cash.

If they won't meet you at your place to see it then they aren't serious... Everytime I've sold a vehicle it's been at my choice of place to meet.

If they ask if you will finance, hang up immediately, maybe laugh a little.

I put my cell in the ad and when I see a number I don't recognize I send it to voice mail. If they aren't willing to leave a message then they aren't serious. I'll answer if they call back repeatedly though because maybe they don't like leaving voice mails although I avoid it.
