Secondary Hard Drive

Hey who da thunk a cowboy know his way around the internals of a computer! So any way I have been recently bit by the tinker with my computer bug and I had a old 8gig hard drive in a older computer sitting in the shop that was going to the junk yard. So I robed the hard drive from it and installed it on my computer for extra room. So any way if I remember right I want to set the jumper settings as a slave drive right? Cause when I restart it ask me too remove all media and hit any key were there is no media so I just hit any key and my computer boots like should and then it shows the new F: drive. Well I did a major format of the NTFS file systems and then a quick format of the Fat32 stuff. What else do I need to do to set this thing up right?
