Geez Fiver ... you come up with the best stuff !!! Sure would've hated to be inside the house when that one hit. Sorry you lost so many electronic items ... and it sounds like you need to have a yard bombing party to get a few of us over there to help you fix the sprinklers. Crazy stuff ... who'da thunk it ?

Spent the afternoon listening to words of wisdom from a Two Star ... that was a couple hours that I will never get back .

2132 and the sun is still out ... gotta love this latitude .

Later folks,

Evenin' Gang,

Hectic day but got lots done. Phones are working, cable is working along with the broadband, initial electrical repairs are made and security system is back and running. Security took a new control panel and 16 window monitors, one motion detector, six sliding glass door monitors, three regular door monitors. The monitors all had welded contacts. Just got back from the goodies store with new cable modem and wireless hub - - they were fried. Ordered new power supply for my two week old computer - - hopefully that will get that back up and running, but I'm not holding my breath. Tomorrow it is low voltage outside lighting repairs. Then, tackle the sprinkler system - - that is going to be the tough one. Oh, some said have insurance pay it - - nice try, but with a $5000 deductable, it is probably all on me. Oh well, could have burned the house down from all I have seen. I am greatful - - this can all be replaced. It will definitely push back departure date for getting out of here for the rest of the summer, but maybe we would have been in a horrible accident if we left on time - - it will all work out to the best.

Gotta quit and have some more coffee and wind down - - been a little weird having people running all over the house, doors and windows opening and closing, alarms going off, up and down in the attic, digging holes, pulling wires - - but, major work done, so now comes relax time. Take care. See ya later,

TiredBob

Boy, when you set out to fix things, you don't waste any time!!! At this rate you'll be on the road almost on schedule! Glad things weren't any worse. At least it was all 'things' that got injured and not people.

Saw off a hunk of coffee and relax a bit!

Can somebody pass a slice of the over this way?
Decided yesterday that since the wife has an "extended vacation" we will be going home sometime during the summer, just not sure when.
Maybe have to hit this place

Glad YOU and your wife are alright Bob, things can be replaced/fixed. (Your speedo collection wasn't by chance destroyed was it )

Ed, try to stay dry and good luck with your property.

Tuesday AM.
Spots of blue in the sky, more rain on the way, but things are looking a little better this morning.
AM commute was almost normal.
Coffee hot, munching on a power bar.

Gotta go haul the shop vac over and look at the wet basement tonight.
Hope my $300 of new drywall to replace what got damaged previously survived intact.

Gotta make reservations for vacation today.
I NEED A BREAK.

Wow, you guys on the east side sure are getting some weather... last few days have been PERFECT here..... highs in teh mid 80's, low humidity, sunny and just enough breeze to make it really NICE to be outside.
I hope this sticks around here awhile, but if it must leave, I hope it goes your way...

BOB, I was standing in the doorway of the house once watching the thunderstorm when a transformer directly in front of me, about 150 foot away took a hit. Blew me back across the room into the far wall, and I couldnt hear or see for awhile. We had to replace the entire security system and a few other things as well. The (at that time new) surround sound system for the 'puter has never worked since, and a few other items had to be replaced.
Natures gotta remind us she is the BOSS every now and then it seems....

Rob, Hope everything works out for er miss'us, sounds like she is getting a raw deal and making the best of it.

Well, better go pretend to be doing something constructive, altho as a State /National Gaurd employee, I am not strictly required to do so....
Hope everyone has a good'un...................CD

Guten Abend, y'all !!

Another beautiful european day !! Looks like you folks on the East coast are gonna be soggy for a while. Sending a shipment of umbrellas tomorrow ... hope everything works out for ya.

I decided that today was as good a day as any to drop my retirement papers ... so now the process is started. I will be tranferring to the Fleet Reserve in May 07 after 20.5 years of active duty service. Still a little ways off, but they tell me it goes fast.

That old lady door greeter at Walmart better start clearin' out her locker now ... I want a smooth transition .

Take care y'uns and y'all !!

Oh that's right, that's what the sun & sky looks like when it's not raining........
Humidididididty feels like it's about 20,000 %.
Hope things dry out quickly.

Good Morning DTR'rs!!
Hope everyones day is off to a great start. Nice to hear ya finally got some sun over there Ed, maybe it'll dry things up for ya.
Here is the new addition, all 120 lbs of him:

So far he has learned to run under the truck every time someone sets off a firecracker within 5 miles of the house, and that he can jump right through the first floor window screens when he wants in the house...
The worst thing tho is that I left my truck in the driveway with the window down yesterday and Harley thought that meant he was supposed to be in it. He jumped into the truck and left scratch marks from his rear feet down the entire height of the drivers door. Anyone want a rather large German Shepherd pelt???????

I better get a cup of coffee and start priceing paint jobs......CD

Mornin gang,

Coffee was pretty good - - or maybe I was too tired to notice. Got a bunch more stuff fixed yesterday - - taking today off and go shopping for replacement things for tomorrow. Still dreading the computer and the sprinkler system - - I have no idea where the zone valves are hidden, so I guess it is follow the wires - - - yuk.

Still counting my blessings - - house didn't burn, no major structural damage, no one hurt, so I just can't complain much. Just dig in and get it fixed back up. Have a great day and don't stand next to a tree with a cloud overhead.

Bob

Mornin' My Monday, tomorrow is my rest of the week. Can't wait for the weekend. Grillin', fishin', fire and explosives!

Chaikwa any gremlin's in that new truck yet? Seems like everytime I've just about got enuff for a crew cab to set on the beast, something else breaks. I think I'm gonna settle for a regular cab and just get the thing going.

Congratulations PW!

Sorry about the news there Bob.

Saw something on tv while I was lying on my but the last two days. They say drinking a lot of coffee reduces chances of developeing diabetes, and possibly cancer. They say decaffe is even better for it, so it's not the caffeien, but something else in the bean. Dont'e tell anyone around hrer though. I've got them all thinking decaff. causes cancer....
