Scumbag gas thieves!!!!!

Some dirtballs came around my warehouse the night before last looking to siphon fuel out of my GMC box truck. When their hose wouldn't fit in the filler neck they took a painters scraping tool and scraped back and forth with the sharp edge on the fuel tank until they broke through and fuel came out. Estimate for a new tank installed........ $1200.00!!!!!
Worst of all is that the tank only had maybe 5-6 gallons in it....
The night before they came around and stole 3 catalytic converters off of our rental trucks. Seems to be a lot of that going around in this area. Another guy a few miles up the road had 8 converters stolen the same night....

Man I hate that!! Sounds like a job for my two friends, Smith and Wesson!!! Get some cameras!! They are money wll spent. Keep it lit too. You could always sit in the shadows with 12.ga for a few nights, run them off and they probably wont come back.(as long as you put the fear in them!) or you could just rely on your local po-lice, I am sure they will put you on the top of the list and post an officer and run regular patrols. After all, what are we paying them for?

If it is a fenced in area how 'bout a good ol' watch dog that likes the taste of blood. Even if it isn't fenced in, I would get a big nasty junk yard dog that loves to bark and tie him/her up to a box in the area.

The converters are easy to sell and they also have platinum in them for salvage.

X2^. When I was in school in Tucson one weekend I came over to visit my parents and when we went out Sunday morning to go to mass I saw the powerstroke's exhaust on the ground. After inspecting, the thieves only took the cat and the muffler. The worst part was driving the truck back to Tucson with just the down pipe.

Wow I know where there just happens to be a cat laying in the weeds. I believe I'll go cash her in.

Jeeps get hit a lot with the cat thing. Its easy to get up under those vehicles and electric wizzer wheel them down. We had that happen at the dealership I worked at once.

Security cameras are not as expensive as you think they are and well worth the money.

A good security system that won't require constant maintenance is several thousand dollars especially since they would be mounted outside in the elements.
The lot is not fenced in because we have trucks being dropped off at all hours of the night. It looks like the thieves were planning on taking a lot more converters that night but they probably got spooked by someone returning a truck...
Some of these guys are even stealing the CATS and replacing them with a piece of pipe!! By the time the vehicle owner finds this out the thief is long gone and will never be caught....

Theives are getting real dumb(like they wern't in the first place).

A month or to ago, two guys went to a truck stop a little ways from my house in a little 2 door long bed Izuzu pickup. These guys where in search of copper, no cats or gas. They somehow managed to roll a HUGE spool of copper wire off the back of a semi into the bed of their pickup. I give them credit though, they did manage to roll it off the semi into their bed, but where the spool hit is where they stayed . It crushed their bed darn near to the concrete. Then the cops showed up and took care of the rest. lol

I guess this cat issue is becomming real big. Some guy down in the cities just got poped for turning in about 30 of them, they were all stolen the previous night before so all of the junkyards were aware of this. People never cease to amaze me.
