God Bless you Scott and your family. May God keep his healing hand on your family during this time of loss. We will miss you and thank you for all that you had done for the sport and showing us your love and passion. For someone to come out of retirement twice, shows how much you loved the sport.

R.I.P. Scott. The NHRA really needs to look at extending the shutdown areas at all tracks. The speeds and E.T.'s have changed dramatically but not the tracks. I know these cars stop better with the new technology in carbon fiber brakes and dual parachutes. But if these fail. Wake up NHRA. My prayers and sympathies to his family.

The drivers have to be conscious to shut the vehicle down . No doubt Scott was knocked out by the explosion . It's hard to stop something going that speed . I read of a freak accident a couple of years ago . A woman running a rail job had it rear up and spin on one wheel and did a 180 , slamming down , knocking her out and heading full speed back to the start . It slammed into her chase truck killing her and her son in the truck .

That is unfortunate, I just saw the car and the team at work where they had it on display during lunch the wednesday before.

I believe Tim Wilkerson added a cable that runs from the Pop-Off panel in the body that automatically pulls the parachute release in the event of a blower explosion that may knock the driver unconscious.
