Sad but Stupid

Just because you raised a Edit child doesn't mean a ban is needed.

Rapper Kills Himself With Pen Gun
ST. PARIS, Ohio — Steven Zorn had put the pen gun to his head and clicked before, apparently thinking it was jammed and would not work.

But on the third try, the tiny silver pistol went off as the 22-year-old budding rap artist was drinking to celebrate an impending record deal. He died at a hospital.

The Nov. 18 shooting at Zorn's home in this rural village of 2,000, about 50 miles northeast of Dayton, is believed to have been accidental, according to family, friends and law enforcement officials.

"Steven had a career and his dreams all ahead of him," said Zorn's mother, Lisa McCoy-Horn. She said she wants lawmakers to outlaw pen guns, which are small-caliber, single-shot weapons that resemble pens.

Zorn had taught himself to play the keyboard and record tracts using inexpensive software on his home computer. He tracked down rap artist Miracle in Georgia and urged the crunk artist to listen to a CD of his original recordings.

"The lyrical content was awesome," Miracle said. "He had a lot of skill. I took a liking to him, took him under my wing."

man a ban on pen gus wouldn't hurt anybody. You cant even use them for anything but hurting people. now dont get me wrong i love my 2nd amendment right as much as the next guy on here but really do you see a NEED for to own a pen gun? I dont want to hear because of needing defence either. Those pens arn't accurate and if someone is that close to you to be able to use the pen gun just carry a knife you'll get the same result -protection- and you can use it repeatedly if the 1st time is not enough of a deterent to your attacker(s)

I agree they aren't worth a crap but why legislate something else over a <edit>. Don't we have more pressing matters?

Didn't we go throught this back in the late 80's/early 90's with the
'Saturday night Special"?
From those little pea guns to AK's, it boils down to responsible ownership and use.

A boy I went to school with accidentially shot himself with a gun that he dropped the clip from after the person that handed it to him had chambered one.

Parts of his head were on the ceiling and wall while 5 other people watched in horror, even some pre-school aged kids of the guy that owned the house.

Whats the first thing you do when you pick up or someone hands you a firearm? Check it!
I would hope that most people aren't dumb enough to aim a gun at any part of their body, loaded or unloaded.

Sad, yes.

...yes, because if he had pointed a .45 at his head, thinking it was jammed, he'd have been fine

anyone ever heard of this guy?

Sorry, I got another one.

In the seventh grade a classmate of mine was shot in the stomach and later died. Him and a friend were arguing and pulling a rifle back and forth between them, total accident.

Happened during summer vacation, why do kids have free access to adults weapons?

Must be hard to live with knowing that if you had secured your property someone might still be alive?

Sad.

There are no "Accidental" Discharges, only Negligent ones.

Follow the rules.
Guns don't just "Go Off" unless there is a catastrophic mechanical malfunction.

RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY

RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET and what is beyond it

While I am very sorry for the loss on her son. I submit that the shooting was not an accident, it was a suicide. He put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.

Now as for banning “pen guns” that’s all fine and good but what is next? Maybe the small easy to carry guns that you or I carry for self-defense. Better to not ban the gun and teach gun safety and what not to do with a gun, than to try to legislate common sense. Which I might add he had none of.

it would be nice to hear someone accept the blame for once, or in this case accept the blame on her son's behalf. your kid was stupid, dont cover it up by saying he had a career and dreams and blah blah blah. you point a gun at your head and pull the trigger, accept the consequences; you're automatically telling everyone else you dont care about your dreams or career or anything.

drugs are illegal. we've done a great job at keeping that out of the public's hands. point being: lawmakers dont make the problems go away, they just create a group of words and deem that a law. education and awareness would alleviate many problems.

I have to agree. I have numerous firearms in my house, none of which are locked away, and my kids know not to touch them. I knew all "10 commandments of gun safety" prior to owning my first .22 (at the age of 10), and I knew not to point it at myself, or someone else

I think this part of the article pretty much says it all......

Coroner's Report should list the cause of death as "Terminal Stupidity"
