I'm asking for a friend of mine... anyone ever replace a climate control panel in a 1998 or equivalent Silverado? His lights are no longer working on it... he's wanting to know if the lights can be replaced or if he need a new unit (about $80-90... GM#09378815).

the lights are plug ins.

i have one at home, lemme look at it tonite.

here's what USUALLY happens:
the Radio is above the HVAC controls, and when you pull the antenna out, it drops on the HVAC board, and since the outer plug is ground, it shorts out the board and fries.

why i have an old one at the house!

I have a 97 and its like he said. The radio lights aren't replaceable. New stocker on e-bay,....about 30 bucks w/ shipping. The bulbs in the hvac are pretty easy to get to though, just lower the tilt wheel and pull the dash facing off...gently if you live in the warmer climes.

 

4 white bulbs,

2 yellow (ac & recirc indicators)

for a few bucks for shipping, i will put this on your doorstep,
it don't work (see above..), but will be few spare bulbs, switches and *****.
