Recon Cab lights.....

So in the summer I did some welding for a buddy, small trailer thing. Anyhow, he loaded my cab down with stuff as payment. In this payment was a set of brand new in the box Recon cab lights for his 05'. Well, the dodge dealer sold him 02' cab lights when he bought his first set from them and wanted to change to Recons but found out the bolt pattern was not the same. He ended up with 02' Recons on his truck and I have 05' Recons on my 02'.

About two months ago the light in the center went bye bye. I hit a bit bump on the highway and it came back for the evening and then again said bye bye. So, I called Recon to ask about purchasing another light to replace this one. Lady says I need to have a part number. So I get the part number on what I have and call back, answering machine, leave a message. So I leave a detailed message. That was two weeks ago. Well, what the heck, how about emailing them. So I emailed them. It has now been a week with nothing. I've gotten quicker responce's from my congressman.

My question, how many of you have had problems with your Recon lights? My buddy I got them from said he had some problems out of his new ones he got. I took the top off mine and kinda looked in there but don't want to tear it up......not that it would matter at this point. Should have just bought the Dodge lights, can get replacement bulbs in the grocery store for those and it don't take 3 weeks......

I know I did not pay for them so perhaps I'm not allowed to gripe. I do want to BUY a new light and have said this three times already and I am not expecting anything free. I would however like all of my lights to work since my truck is a commercial truck and I'm sure DOT somewhere would love to give me a ticket.

Ok, groaning over, guess I'll email them again tonight, then twice tomorrow, twice sunday and then once monday morning.

I actually had the same problem last week and the problem was the grounding on it. It went out then it came back on then it went out for sure. The guy added a second ground and they are all even brighter than they were.

I got the harness with it and it had one single ground connection. It was mounted on a clean good ground. If the ground went out I would expect problems from all the lights as they all share the same ground circuit. Spent 4 years troubleshooting electrical on Cadillac's. I've had the light out and reconnected and still not working. Just trying to get a replacement is becoming a pain in the keester

Guess I dropped the ball on this one, should've researched more. At least they did not cost me money so when I buy regular "warts" that will last I won't be out twice as much. Besides, I have a business and I really, really hate shoddy customer service. It's been two weeks or more since my first message and a week on the email, I've gotten emails back from larger companies quicker. Really chaps my.........

each light has to be grounded individually into the harness, meaning the connection to that one light is not connected good enough, the tech that did mine said the lights will go out but most of the time its because grounding issues he fixed my light with another ground directly to the batterry ground terminal and i havent had any issues but i agree with bad customer service on recon behalf. When mine did it i called them and shot them an e-mail they told me they didnt sell individual lights so it was the end of that!
