Heck, if the poor snot is afraid to go to war, why don't we bag him up with other defectors and ship them to Somalia to disarm all of the hundreds of thousands of land mines that were dispersed in third world countries of the like. They won't have to worry about dodging bullets or rocket fire, will not be working toward advancing the republican oil mongers greed for more oil, and will be doing the 3rd world countries a big service.

Oh, by the way, since they were already militarily trained in weapon's handling, they should need no further training in disarming soviet or china made mines, besides, all of the instructions would be in a language that they can't read anyway........

We just need to give these guy's to someplace like France, Germany or other s that have alike thinking. Take away their citizenship and any other privileges. we can run a shuttle over there let anyone that joins and then refuses to carry out their duties the opportunity to be free. No possible chance for re-entry. Better yet when Canada tries to send them back refuse to let them back into this country. Period we don't want them. I'd like to see the look on their face

RLV-
Interesting read. You guys gotta remember- everyone makes mistakes. An 18 year old right out of high school joining the military then deciding he made a mistake is not the end of the world. Let the kid out so he can move on with his life.

scottord,

You do make a pretty strong point & I think probably most everyone that posted didnt keep his age in mind. The fact is, people do make mistakes especially when they are that young.....BUT at the same time there also comes a point where you have to grow up and accept responsibility for your choices. Just look at all the 18 year olds that went to Vietnam without complaint.

I think he should be brought back for sure to face the music- Hopefully he wouldn't get a dishonorable though- those are as bad as having a felony on your record. Keep in mind, he is a kid. Give him a chance to do the right thing and he will probably be a benefit to society..

Dr. Evil- I am in a F-16 guard unit and I work with alot of guys who went to Vietnam. None of them complain to this day.
We are deploying to Iraq very soon (me included in case you were wondering) and a bunch of those guys are going also.
we will have guys from 18 to 55 going- no one has complained yet. I see your point, just can't see ruining some kids life over a job- He didn't rob some lil ol lady or shoot up a school. He simply made a poor career choice...

Let him go, best thing for the guys that serve with him and have to depend on his sorry behind.

No need to hunt him down and prosecute him, he will have to live with being a coward and worthless piece of flesh for the rest of his life.
