Range Rover ads on this site - LMAO

I really have to laugh when I see an ad for a $100,000 Range Rover sunning itself in Montreux, Switzerland..as if any of us are interested in that kind of nonsense

that ad has no place on this site and as far as I can tell the only reason to buy one of those cars is to show others that you have money to burn

p.s. they have no towing power and are the most common SUV seen on flatbeds around here

Actually they very much DO have a place on this forum....They are helping to pay the bills here so you don't have to

To me having this wealth of knowledge at my fingertips for FREE is worth much more than any worry about some silly ad I may see here.....don't you think?

They can advertise Victoria Secrets lingerie here and it wouldn't bother me.....errrrrrr actually I would like it if they did.....Come on Victoria! bring on the banners!

Haha. Over on Diesel Place, it's flooded with Kia ads. At least the Range Rover ads are nice to look at. Kia ads are just annoying.

you've got a point there, TOP - and I know that DTR has no control over what banner ads show up on the site. any advertiser who's willing to PAY is indeed welcome and of course we all love this site's content. It's just slightly ridiculous to think that anyone on an American diesel site would ever buy a $100K British-built gasser that can't do anything but look stylish and take up shop bay space. Goes to show that the web advertising "logic" systems that supposedly target the ads at potential buyers need some work!

That's one banner ad that would get clicked on all the time! Maybe you've hit on an idea here Lary!

I actually think that the ads flash based on your browsing habits.

All I see are ram trucks and apple computers.....

Did someone recently visit a Range Rover site lately...

Or is the Missus trying send you a message!

at work I can only look at news sites, nothing controversial. I can't post on any of my forums except DTR

I have nothing but disdain for Range Rovers and think that people who drive them are compensating for other issues. My wife does drive a recent-model gasser, but it's a Volvo. She has no interest in cars and lets our daughters pick them for her.

I have seen some of the stupidest banner ads on sites. like the ones that were all over my saltwater fishing site, hawking realistic-looking stuffed animals

Although not the 'target demographic' for Range Rovers from what we think, aren't there price tags on some of the new Cummins rigs pushing $75K for some decked out versions?

Aren't a relatively high percentage of high dollar diesel rigs used as play toys or grocery getters? Maybe not as far fetched as you might think as both vehicles could appeal to a 'best of the best' demographic to people of means wanting trucks and SUV's. I.e. Classic overplayed example of doctor driving the ego-diesel putting his wife in a Range Rover.

As for the Kia's... Same principle. As a poor first genner myself, I could definitely see owning a cheap DD Kia or Hyundai for when the truck is under the knife.

Heck, my wife drives a... wait for it... wait for it... (flame suit on) Prius.

A little story about a Range Rover!!
20 years ago I had a 87 Dakota 4X4.
I had just put new mud snow tires on it and commented about how sure footed it was.
Well, someone told someone who thought I was bragging and it got to a kid with RR.
He shows up and want to go play in the mud.
I asked who he was, but got little info. I leaned back to see his tires, laughed and said wheres the mud!!!

We went to an old railroad overpass, I tried to get a bet going.
These kids were saying I had zero chance. It was about 50-60 feet and 45degrees. Spring and was thawing.

I told them I was new at this and wanted them to go first. They got stuck in the ditch. I drove around them, hooked and pulled them out. Twice. Then I drove thru thier tracks, and made the top on the second try!!!!
They said I was a show off.
They were running wore out michelin highway tires!!!!
They claimed a long heavy and stiff suspension, and low gearing is best.
I said a soft long travel suspension, short WB, and high gearing is best in mud like that!!

AND OF COURSE GOOD TIRES!!!!
