Rabbits!!!!!

I have a rabbit that seems to really like digging holes in my back yard. I live in the city and using my guns(even a pellet gun) is out of the question. I have a choc. lab that just loves to chase the rabbit out of the yard any chance she gets, she just cant get to it before it slips under the fence. I`ve tried putting blood meal out all over the yard but it doesnt scare this rabbit away, however the dogs doesnt like the stuff and now she`s afraid of the yard!! I think this rabbit has a death wish, I`ve heard they dont come back when you have dogs around, and it seems to like the blood meal. Its kinda become a joke with my wife and I cause we just cant get rid of it. Its slowly messing up my whole yard. I need help!!!!!!!

You could always put a box out there, with a carrot and string and when it gets stuck inside, drive to the outskirts of town and let the litte thing go. I know ha ha, use a box, but hey i've caught stuff before like that, it will work. (lot cheeper than a humane trap). Try that, I never like killing something if I'm not gonna use it (eat or something). Other than that, that's all i have. I heard for deer you pee around whatever you want the deer to stay away from but if you can't use a BB gun at your house, if your going to the bathrrom in your yard, that may get you cuaght too. how in the city are you if you can't use a BB gun, there pretty quiet.

I think I've seen somewhere that you can actually get rabbit traps ( not the ones that kill them ) but just the ones that capture them so you can let them go somewhere else. I might have to check on that cause now I'm curious myself............

Be sure to dress up like Elmer Fudd when you try that... Also helps if you say "Shhh, be verwy verwy quiet, I'm hunging wabbits!"

You might check with the local animal control. They may be able to lend you a humane trap. The local cat shelter was willing to lend me one to catch a neighborhood stray so I could get her fixed...

Just don't catch a skunk...

I can let you borrow one of my pitbulls. They pop squirrels, gophers, and rabbits like tic tacs.

hahaha, you guys are funny!! Its not the noise of a pellet gun its just, if I walk in my backyard with any kind of gun I have 5 different houses that can see me and besides, I`ve only seen it out at night so I wouldnt be able to get a shot off. I was just outside and I just realized that its living under my deck!! It probably laughs at me every time I go outside. After all this time trying to get it out of my yard, its been under my nose to whole time . I`m sure my dog could catch it if I had a bigger yard, but it seems to tease her and knows when to start hopping to get out in time. It actually came right at me the other night(with my dog giving a good chase) and I was going to kick it but I probably woulda hit the dog knowing my luck. I guess I`ll have to get a live trap....

call animal control, they will put a trap out there and haul it to the country where the hawks can get a good meal.

I take it that you have never spot lighted something. All that you have to do is tape a mag light to the bottom of the pellet gun. Turn the light on point and shoot. Just tell your neighbors that you were checking on the noise. If it is dark out they won't even see the gun. Happy hunting

Suggestion

I get hair from the barber shop and sprinkle it around my garden to keep the rabbits out of my veggies. Works like a champ. Here, we can fire at will, but I ain't got the time to set up camp and wait on the little buggers .

They are good to eat though.

Seriously, try the hair. - JKE

EDIT: OR, If'n you don't like the hair trick, sprinkle crushed or powdered Cayenne pepper around the perimeter. That works quite well also.

I think you guys are forgetting the fact that the rabbit is under his deck. Sprinkling hair around won't help because the rabbit is already in his yard. You need to remove the rabbit first.

didn't see any mention of deck. Stated that his dog loved to chase it OUT of the yard.... I think I missed some details in another thread. - JKE
