Are you going to tackle it yourself?? There is standard trans in Ft. Worth? I was wondering if anyone has used them for this repair? I want mine done before it happens. Sorry to hear about yours I guess they all go at sometime. Let me know if you use them. Thanks Goodluck,,Rick

I have bought parts from them, but they are too far away for me.

The hardest part of this fix is finding the tools.

I bet you can get the job done without a hitch.
Just don't talk to much and kill time like some people do.

Good luck and I hope ya get it going.

I'd be glad to help ya out but that's a long trip.

On second thought if I could talk Mama into it.

Oh well Good luck.

on the two wheel drives there is enough thread to put 2 5th gear nuts on there. you can't do it on the 4wd the threads are shorter. i never used the proper tools, just a big punch and a hammer. get brake clean and the new nuts come with lock tight. we machined one of the nuts down to get full thread contact with the other. and one friend of mine says next time his 4wd does it he will machine 5th gear down to get the room to double nut it. i have not looked at it well enough to decide if i would do that.

Have you double nutted any?

I guess you had a wrench big enough for the nut? How did you tighten it?

Now that I think about it, I have wrenches that would probly fit it.
