How is that a problem? I WISH my wife would take an interest in firearms.

I did the same thing. Went to the shooting range Saturday and ran across a Kimber .45 I couldn't live without. It shoots very nice, a lot better than the 9mm I use to shoot cans with. I guess my poor truck is going to have to wait for the upgrades.

I love XD. However if price is a concern look at the Rock island 1911. A real nice pistola for less money.

We own and operate a gun shop so it's like a couple kids in a candy store! I have 3 kids that just can't get enough guns also.

If you are looking at Polymer Framed guns you should really look at the new S&W M&Ps. Nice guns. I just picked up a M&P9c for consideration for CCW. I am running a reliability test on it to see if it runs as good as a few others I own. Nice features. Glocks are reliable and good firearms but they are like holding a bar of Ivory soap IMO.

M&P's have 3 different sized backstraps that change the palm swell... Plus you can get Factory Trijicon Night sights.

I second that motion. I looove my G23. It's by far my favorite shooter. I take it to the range before my Sig p220. If you want some good reading on guns by some pretty knowledgable guys check out Glocktalk.com. There's a whole section on firearms other than Glock.

I'll be looking for a G 23 when I get back. I already have bought 10 mags for it.

Dodgeguy71- as for the wife, take her shooting more. get her a gun that she likes to shoot and fits well in her hands.
My wife (now Ex) thought I was in a militia. Lol. Some people just don't get it, and you'll never change their minds...

I'm not a fan of combat tupperware but I know quite a few that are. I prefer 1911's myself. My son has the XD's and love them too. You gotta shoot what you feel comfortable with.

This is what I did with my wife. Involve her in the target shooting. You made the comment about having kids. That is probably her biggest concern is their safety, so if you can show her how to safely handle one, it will make her less fearful. Not sure how old your kids are, but involve them if you think they are old enough. I was killing bird with my BB gun at 6 and had my 1st 22LR ruger carbine at 8. Food for thought.

I have to throw my hat in on the Glock as well. There is a reason Glocks are carried by 90% of the law enforcement community. Give them a look and for goodness shakes shoot whatever you decide on before buying!

As for the comment on the cowboy revolvers, I have a Ruger Vaqero 45LC. It is a very fun gun to shoot and carry around in the woods when hog hunting. I keep it beside my bed and practice every night on my best dirty harry ..." This is a Ruger 45LC, it can blow your head clean off with one...."

We're all probably on some watch list now.....

....love my XD40, but I most often carry ParaOrd , a P12 with the Aluminum frame (has some issues when it gets REAL cold), or my P14...

...other than when the P12 gets down to around 0 deg. F, I've NEVER had a feeding issue with the Para's, and the P14 has around 20k rounds through it, many fired in anger at running jackrabbits...I've never heard of anyone having a problem with their firearms!

Glocks are an acquired taste, I like my Model 20 for rabbits as well, it sure hits hard with my 200 gr. XTP homeloads -

You really can't go wrong with most major brands, buy the one that feels / shoots good for you!

I just bought an HK USP .45 Tactical. I also have the XD .40 Tactical. Both are great guns but I think I like my USP a little better. It is definitly more accurate.

In my experience the XD is a better gun but everyone has a different opinion. My policy is always shoot it before you buy it. Good look and safe shooting
