Pronunciation of Porsche

One pronunciation that always gets on my nerves.

Por-sha versus porsh.

Which would be correct, being that Porsche is a both a German name and a German company (originally at least)

None of the two options is correct, though the first one is close to it.
Check out the link (Carrera GT), turn up the sound and enjoy. It´s in German so you know how the name sounds after some seconds. Btw the driver has some serious driving skills. Here´s the link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...4226&q=porsche

Enjoy

Wasn't quite sure how to write out the really correct pronunciation.

POARRRR- shuh?

Or something like that.

Bugs the bejeezus out of me to hear it any other way, particularly option #2.

Guess it's my German ancestors turning over in their graves.

Bored? Well, I´m not

Maybe your Por-sha sounds the same as my Por-sche, but Porsh is definitely wrong

Com'on, who's calling in POARRRR- shuh?

If you're American it's Porsh, period.

Since I can't pronounce the whole "O-R" sound like that due to a speech impediment, I kind of mutter something along the lines of "pawrsh-A" really fast so that people can kind of figure out what I'm saying without making it apparent that I can't talk right.

But there are still two syllables.

That's actually a hard one ... when I hear the local germans talking about the porsche factory (15 minutes away by train)... they always pronounce it like "porsh". However ... any other word they have with the e on the end (not many), the sound is like porsh-eh.

I always say it porsh and noone looks at me funny ... unlike the other german words I butcher .
