Prices Creeping Up..............?

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed prices on a lot of things slowly going up? Since I'm pretty much on a fixed income, maybe I just notice it more.

Granted, diesel is down ($2.359 at WM today), but these are a few of the things I've noticed going up:

Lays potato chips at Wall Mart was $2.00, today $2.25 per bag.

Horseshoer's Secret for my pony was $24.95, today $26.95.

Tires - I had new tires put on at Discount Tire today. From about two weeks ago, maybe three, the same tires went up $12 each. I'm glad I got my prices on them yesterday because they went up another $1.00 each last night.

???????????

You can thank the oil industry for that, IMO! I'm not an economist by no means but to my knowledge dang near everything we buy is delivered by trucks which burn diesel fuel. Ever since they started gouging us for diesel, everything has gone up up and away! I'm sure some oil folks will chime in here and scold me, but that is my opinion. Thanks OIL TYCOONS! You are greatly loved!

Don't know if it's just here in New Orleans, but has anyone bought a spool of #12 Romex wire lately? The price has trippled.

I thought about that too, but then got to thinking....the prices I've noticed have gone up since diesel prices have started down.

AT least SOME construction materials have come down a bit. Hopefully a little bit more the way they claim the houseing market is suppose to be going bad.

Ya'll think electrical wire has gone up, you ought to try and buy copper pipe for A/C usage. A 50' roll of 7/8" used to run about 56 bucks. The same roll yesterday was 172 bucks and some change. The timeframe of this increase is over just the last year. It all started a couple of years back when the Chinese started buying all of the world's scrap steel and other metals. Heck for a while it was almost profitable to start handling scrap steel when the prices soared to .38 a hundred weight........

Can we all say...."GLOBAL ECONOMY"

OG&E keeps having to repair substations in OKC, OK because thieves are breaking in and stealing wires and selling them for scrap. Last I heard, scrap copper was $4 a pound. That is amazing. One fella lost his life doing such, 47,000 volts should be the punishment for thieves IMO. Caskets are smaller and cheaper if you don't have legs!
