Re:Prayers Needed
Hauling in Dixie, this is a very serious topic and needs to be discussed and brought out in the open more. I have been debating on starting a separate thread on it however I have not as I am afraid that some could get upset and things get out of hand.
Moderators; comments and opinions please.
Re:Prayers Needed
You are probably right as most do not appreciate the truth. Not sure if it would go over ok. Use your judgement, I would contrubute. I will be off line for a few hours, have some erronds to run than some repairs to take care of.
Re:Prayers Needed
I cant speak for all the Moderators on this, but I have no problem with this AS LONG as it doesnt get out of hand.
Debates on religion and politics often get very heated, very quick. It is for this reason that many/most of the threads on religion and/or politics get locked.
Again, I cant speak for the other Moderators and, of course, the Admins have final say on this kind of stuff.
Just read through the site rules before making ANY posts. Especially post on topics that are as volatile as these.

Re:Prayers Needed
I agree. I certainly DO NOT want to start a war of any kind here, but as you pointed out and is well known, these things get out of hand. However, I am willing to calmly discuss this serious subject with facts and not opinions. Opinions tend to skew things badly. Will wait for bit and see if anybody else has any opinions on this or any encouragement before I do anything else.

Mexstan wish you lived closer, would love to discuss some issues. Many do not realize the progress proficy has taken.

I'd love to discuss some issues as well...but unfortunately I think I probably disagree with you (and Mexstan) on some things...especially regarding the prophecies you speak of (from Revelation I assume). The Bible clearly states that not even the angels in Heaven know when Christ will return (Matt. 24:36). On top of that, the book of Revelation was written in a figurative sense and not a literal one. The prophecies in Revelation have already been fulfilled. The Bible doesn't speak of any signs or anything to indicate to us that the end of time is approaching. In fact, it saids that the Son of Man will return at a time when we do not expect him (Matt. 24:44).
BUT....that's not what this thread is about so I reckon I've said my piece.

As a rule we don't try to discourage any discussion that is done in a friendly manner, most the members here understand that showing a little respect is all it takes to be able to speak openly here.

However each time the topic of religious beliefs and ideas, has come up, it has ended up shut down because people have such strong differing feelings on this subject.

There are no obvious rights and wrongs in a subject matter of this type, only each individuals given belief on the subject and in the end a recipe for trouble.

With that in mind, I think it would be best if we stuck to the topic of diesel engines as going off on a religious discussion will only once again end up as another locked thread.

I don't like being the bad guy here, but keeping this place and it's members free of conflict is my #1 concern.

Lary

Re:Prayers Needed
We are now WAAAAAY of topic here but will comment on Hoss's (Hosses?) reply and that will end this for me on this thread. Any prophecies I mention will probably be from Ezekiel, Jeremiah the gospels and yes, Revelation. Other books also have prophecy. In fact, almost 28% of the Bible is prophecy. Of course the Bible is very clear that nobody, not even Christ himself knows when He will return and that is not a factor in any discussion from me. As for the book of Revelation being written in the figurative sense and not a literal one, I disagree and can prove it but not here.
My original thought was to start a thread on America under attack today. That may wonder into religious territory at times which is OK if it fits the topic. So to reiterate my original question, should I start a thread about America being under attack right now? There does appear to be some interest on this subjest but again, I do NOT want to start a war. Good clean discussion is fine, but no fights. So what do you guys and gals say?
Re:Prayers Needed
I agree. I'm more than happy to discuss the Bible with anyone that wants to hear it, but religious discussions on message boards tend to get out of hand VERY quickly. [undecided]
Re:Prayers Needed
Thanks Lary,
Like I said Mexstan,
Lary is probably correct that a topic like the one your propose could lead to both relgious and/or political differences and ultimately just get locked.

Re:Prayers Needed
Well.......... not good news, but could be worse.

After I left work yesterday, the Inspector announced that the suspect was not in the house. This is a rural area, and he probably slipped out before the armor vehicle arrived. The Armor vehicle was being used to clear some visual obstructions from around the house before they planned out the second entry. We started a tip line, it sounds like the local community is on our side, stones are getting turned.

Funeral for Tpr Marshall is tomorrow. He was from the other side of the state than where we work, so I won't be able to make it, but the post will have plenty of representaion. Tpr Marshall was out of the recruit school after mine. I took his radio check-ins since I started dispatching, and new his voice. The 800mhz radios we use have digital ID numbers and an emergency allert button. All patrols in the district have to check in with us when in service, so we can track them down if they set off there allert. They also have to check in with their local dispatch in their county/post area. I met Tpr Marshall a couple times recently after he completed E.S. school. He was easy to talk to and cheerful, a real nice guy. He left a wife and two children.

Re:Prayers Needed
Last few days off, but Tpr Marshall's family is getting outstanding support. Lots of fund raising, with local business offering their products up for auction. Department members on a "meal making" schedule. Gonna make a batch of my famous Ghoulosh later this week.

Had a tip yesterday morning. Woodbridge was campng in a vehicle outside a friends house. Didn't leave the rifle when he got out. There will not be a lengthy, criminal trial. The rifle was found to have the safety off and 20 rounds in the magazine.
