This is absolutely ridiculous. Getting all excited about watching rapists, and thugs run around chasing a EDIT leather ball..

That is so stupid. What is more important, your babies life or the Super Bowl? What an idiot. I mean the Super Bowl is great, but it isn't life or death and they do have TV's in the hosptial. My wife would kill me if I wanted her to have a baby early just for convenience.

I'll go against the grain here and say, while I think that her priorities are out of whack, there are literally thousands and thousands of women every year who choose to be induced as a matter of convenience. What's the difference?

Rapists and thugs? What's the deal with this comment? I just don't understand this blanket characterization of NFL players. Some NFL players do a lot of good with their fame and money. The late Reggie White comes to mind. Doug Flute and many more.

Your comments are way out of line. IMHO

This may be true but this lady wanted to induce early ever since she found out what the delivery date was. This is like premeditated.

Premeditated what?? Delivery??

The article said her due date was the day before the Super Bowl. My guess is that she is probably going to induce one week before her due date. There's nothing uncommon at all about that. In fact, our doctor WANTS my wife to induce a week before her due date because our first baby was so big (9 lbs, 10 oz.).

As I said, I think her priorities may be out of whack, but there is nothing uncommon at all about inducing labor. Others may disagree, but I don't think it's a big deal. I especially don't think it's a big enough deal to call her "stupid" or "idiot" or suggest that she hang herself.

Now...if she were only 7-8 months pregnant then I would agree that it's not too smart. But she's full term. This isn't news. This happens every day.

But hey...what do I know.

So what is it Hoss, is your wife going to be induced early or has she already had it?

Don't know yet. She's not due until August 14th so I don't really have to worry about that right now.

I don't see a problem, the doctor is paying attention. Really, it's a give or take a week or 2 on the delivery date anyway. Since she's all keyed up, it's likely to be a non-issue when she delivers in plenty of time for the game.

I wasn't trying to say that inducing labor was stupid, just the womens reasoning for doing it. If the Doctor recommended it then I wouldn't think that the lady is and idiot, but since she is just doing for her own convenience I think differently.

Inducing is routine practice now days. My wife was also induced. But I think we do it more for the convience of knowing when. Doctors as well as patients/fathers don't want to get up in the middle of the night only to have a false alarm with labor pains. At a certain point, the mother just wants it done..

But the reason to get induced.. The Superbowl.. She's gonna give birth then have a party for the Superbowl... got to have your priorities straight. To each his/her own...

Farmer Dave,

I agree that she's got her priorities mixed up. My original point was that labor is induced EVERY DAY for the sake of convenience and no one cares. Why is this one any different? Heck, I know DOCTORS who prefer to induce so that they don't have to come in for a late night delivery. I would venture to guess that 80% of induced labors are done as a matter of convenience and not a matter of necessity.

Not trying to criticize anyone here. I just don't see why this is a big deal.
