Just bought one in Dec from a good friend and dealer so he gave me a little break on it. Paid $4900 installation was free, he usually charges $500 and I love it. It finally got cold, in the teens and twentys for highs around zero at night and I am probably using a truck load in two to two and half weeks approx. We keep the house around 75

Same weather area here...

we use a 140,000 BTU HARDY outdoor boiler.

heats our 6,000 square foot house and basement. and a 2400 square foot barn when we open the valve.

the firebox holds about 15 10 inch splits by 29 inches long and lasts for about 24 hours , currently it is 5 degrees out and calm.

we will use about 20 cord in a normal October to March season, with January being single digit temps. it is 75 feet away from our house.

we use water baseboard heat in most of the rooms and radiant floor in concrete heat in the well used family room with a big six foot by five foot window, patio door and another entry door and window.

look for a used one in a local paper from someone who has upgraded.
they have a solid ten years before any seam cracks start. the cast iron grates usually go after two years but can be replaced for 30 bucks at a country/farm supply place. you will find that 3,000 bucks is a good deal if you can do it yourself (simple plumbing and wiring to a relay) run a water pipe to it for easy filling, needed once a year, about 300 gallons of water.

we rebuilt a used one, installed and everything ourselves ($2300). figure about 4,500 from a dealer if you are NOT around Boston area.

range? enh.. 3900 to 6200 figure. got questions? PM me if ya need to
