I really have mixed emotions on this one. If my 2-yr child was tormenting the dog, his little diapered butt would have been corrected RIGHT THEN. If he refused to cease tormenting the dog, he's have been separated and corrected again.

This is a classic case of the parent refusing to A: WATCH THE KID, and B: teach the child restraint - and let's not go into how much you cannot teach a two year old. See "A" above, it it 100% the parent's responsibility to look after the child - end of discussion in my house.

FWIW, back in the early 70s I lived on a ranch in Wyoming, where the owners had a couple of little boys. Oldest was just 6, youngest was about 3-1/2. Neither one of them minded worth a darn, and both were spoiled rotten little hellions. Ranch dog was an Australian shepherd, really a good quiet dog. The youngest boy got into the habit of baiting the dog at every opportunity, and since his mother and father refused to correct him, it just naturally escalated.

The dog put up with this for well over a month - kid took to waking him up by poking him with sticks. broom, what ever he could get hold of, to make the dog yip and jump. He must have really hurt him one day, because the dog just nailed that kid - one bite to the face, and then he ran off to hide under the barn (his usual escape route). The child was horribly ripped, required a couple of surgeries, and the dog was put down. I still think it was the parent's fault that kid is disfigured for life.

well the way I see it as common sense. you put an aggressive dog with a little kid and ppl wonder why their kids gets attacked. the solution for me is not have a dog around because of that fact. like putting a pit bull, doberman, or german sheperd, these dogs to me are very untrustworthy and I dont care who they are trained by. they are aggressive and things happen. a friend of ours had a husky that basically tore a kids face off because the kid stepped on his tail. part of the lawsuit after that was to have the dog put down or they were going to sue them for a huge amount of money. if you are that scared where you live buy a gun not a dog
