older trucking songs.

Howdy guys, I have 2 song in my head, and can't rember the names of either. Looking for some help from some of the older guys. Below is what I know or remember of the song, now I need the titles.

Song 1: Red Sovine? A story about a little dog, seen from inside a cafe, who is taken home by the guy. Later the guys looses his sight in an accident, and is worried about his dog. Turns out, while the guy was in the hospital, the dog was undergoing training to be a guide dog, for the man.

Song 2: Artist and title unknown. A 'CB Trucker' song. the convoy heard an unusual voice on the CB radio, and nobody was gonna answer this voice. Later on, the voice says " If you listen real close, you'll find my voice is changing. You were so busy copying my put on, you didn't realize your covoy was been infiltrated. If you look in your mirrors, you'll see 5 plain white smokeys, dressin' up for a ticket writen party."

I remember these songs from when I was a kid, would like to find them, but can't remember their names. Thanx in advance.

I think the second song is called "The Convoy Song" or something along those lines.

I got the first one , it is Red Sovine, and the name of the song is 'Little Joe'.
Now if we could only figure out the second one. BigBlue, there is a song called convoy, but that's not the one. The title of the song, is also the 'voice's' CB handle. Thanx though.

A little 'Net searching came up with this:

Like a hundred other fads, CB mania gave us many more CB-inspired songs, such as "White Knight" (about a trucker perfidiously lured into a speed trap by a CB-wielding Smokey);

Thanx Shovelhead, that would be the one I was looking for. I knew between all of us 'smart' guys (look at the trucks we own) we would figure it out in no time. I quite haven't figured out the net search yet, but thanx.

The second song, about the voice no one would answer, is called "CB Savage". Its about a cop infiltrating a convoy, using methods that today would be considered less than politically correct..

Have fun

Thanx pind, I grew up with all the older truck, train, and country songs, and still listen to them them today. The problem is, some of the radio stations only play them for 3-4 hours, on saturday or sunday night only. I have quite a collection of CDs, and make my own compilations to keep in the truck. This does 2 things. First, I have all the songs I REALY like without the others that are OK. Second, If the CD gets damaged or destroyed, no big, I still have the original.

CB SAVGAGE was the second based on a true ploy used by Huey before he got his dodge of course.

Yep, CB Savage by Rod Hart. White Knight doesn't have the female voice, even though the premise is the same. I have most of those old songs on LP, so I run them through my computer and made an MP3 out of them. Not exactly the best sound in the world, but it gets me my fix of trucking music when I want it.

Besides, they sound almost like they did in my 72 Western Star on 8-Track
