Angry OK, Who's got the blabber MOUTH!

We just came into a good chunk of money witch is a good thing cause the front end of my truck is in dire need of fixn'. But! Who called all the parts stores and told them I have some coin in the pocket? .... Holy Smokes, I can't believe the prices to fix her up.

upper & lower ball joints
outer & inner tie rod ends
rotors & pads
4 KYB shocks
Lukes link
DSS
Wheel bearings
fluids for the fr&rr diffs, tranny, tcase & eng. + filters
$1400.00!
o'yeah $1094.00 for 5 285/75/16 BFG TAKO'S.

Thankfully I am a mechanic, I could not imagine what the bill would be if I droped her off at shop! And it's funny what people will try to sell you. I called this tire shop for prices on the 285's, she gave me the price but said she only had 2 in stock, but, she had 5- 315's on the floor for $219.00 each, I said that would be great, but I need a lift with that, she said, nope, on the doge they will not RUB , I said yes they will, she said nope they won't, but if they did rub they have a 4" skyjacker lift in stock. Some people . I went with the 285's at another store, $198.00 each.

P.S. Thanks goes out to the guy's at Pier's, they were great to deal with!

Curt

It could be worse.

My DSS, TBK, and adjustable track bar were about $750 by the time they made it to my door. Imagine replacing those, ball joints, hub/bearing assemblies, and the EGR brakes. I think it would be pushing $2K just in parts. I get everytime I think about it.

How often do the ball joints and tie rod ends need to be replaced? Also, how often do the bearings need to be lubed? This is on a stock truck...

HappyGA, that price was from o'reillys and a shop. Luckily, the dealer did them under warranty. Where are you getting ball joints for that cheap?

The front wheel bearings on the newer trucks are sealed and when they go you have to buy the whole hub assembly
