Hey guys I have a friend who has a Jeep Wrangler TJ and he is trying to find out about lift kits. He wants to put 33x12.5x15 tires on his jeep and knows he needs a lift kit. Everything he has been looking at has been a 2" or 4". He wants to stay with suspension. 2" won't allow proper fit for the tires and there aren't many 3" kits out there, someone told him a 4" would screw up his drive shaft so he is worried.
I was wondering if any of you knew anything about this or knew of a good Jeep forum. Although nothing could match the greatness of DTR I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks

try www.4wd.com/4wdforums. They have decent forums.
www.jeepforum.com is where I take my Liberty issues. They have a TJ forum too.
Jeeps Unlimited and Jeep Forum probably have the highest traffic. There is a lot of great tech on jeepbbs.net, but there isn't as much traffic. He can also check out www.ilovejeeps.com .
As far as the lift goes, a 2" suspension lift and a 1" body lift will fit 33's as long as the bumpstops are set correctly. Depending on his transmission and rear axle combo, he may get some minor vibes with a 2" lift, but the transfer case can be dropped slightly to correct the problem. A 1" motor mount lift will also help, since it drops the rear of the transfer case a little to help with the driveshaft angle (also eliminates the need to mess with the fan shroud when using a 1" body lift
). With a 4" suspension lift, a slip yoke eliminator and a double cardan rear driveshaft will be necessary to avoid really dropping the 'case.
If 33's are as big as he will ever go, and he wants an excellent riding Jeep, tell him to go with the Old Man Emu 2.5" lift and a 1" body lift. The OME is a great riding kit, and works very well off road. I ran it for a while, and if not for going to 35's I'd still have it.

i was not impressed with http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/index.php
maybe liberty sectoin was ok,
but the wrangler sectoin had more kids/ignorance/opinions than i had time for.
1 good thread might have 20 posts, but only a handful are constructive.
it took longer to cross check all the input on there than it was worth.

. If he goes any bigger then 33"'s I'd vote to upgrade his axles too.
