Phox warned you guys once.. And now here's my take on it. Nothing infuriates me more than getting preached to, especially before coffee.

I am sorry for the guys here that say all they here from the preachers is how you need to pay your tithes. I have been a member of my church for over a year, and have heard only about 2 minutes of the preacher asking people to search themselves and see what God compells them to give.

Seems like the church you may have attended was off track of it's goal to save lives, and more focused on financial matters.

I believe everyone has the right to do what it is that they want to do, and they can believe whatever they want to do.

I will be praying for all of you, not that you have hardship, but that you have joy in your heart.

Now I need to relieve some stress, meet me at the Baptist Parking Lot.
Cool!!! Burnouts in the Baptist Parking Lot!!!!!

If these guys are true Christians, they are duty bound to try to convert non-believers. Please be patient with them.

That's the one thing I hate about them. I don't want Muslims, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, Christians or anybody for that matter preaching to me about what I should believe, unless I've stumbled into their place of worship. Then I get what I deserve. I know it's God's calling to spread the word to the unbelievers, but it sure is annoying. And for the record, I'm a semi-practicing Roman Catholic, who keeps my religious beliefs to myself. (that is unless you count this!!)

Just for the record I am a Christian.

That being said I don't go around spouting off. I prefer to live as the best example I can and if others notice then I am doing my "duty". I don't want anybody "preaching" to me on the street or TV either.

Always wondered what would happen if everyone found out that religion was nothing more than a sham.

Think about it like this. I live by the Bible, and just for your entertainment, if it were a sham, what would be the down side to me living like that. I am a nicer person, treat others with respect, and spend time with a lot of people that live the same way I do.

But think about this, if your wrong, and never accept Jesus as your savior, then you had fun for 40, 50, 60, or 70 years, but now comes eternity which you will spend the rest of trying to find some way to get that immense burning sensation to cool down which it never will.

Exactly right. I will try once, and then I do not want to become a bother to anyone or annoy them. After they have heard the word, then it is up to them to accept it.

So you're saying you wouldn't be a nice person without religion? I would think that treating others as you would like to be treated is nothing more than a societal issue to fit in.

And I didn't say that I believed it was a sham. But what if... What if all these centuries of religious beliefs is nothing more than an attempt to control the masses and has no factual basis for being true. What would happen to society as we know it?

let's not twist what was said. If I did not live by the word of the Bible, yes I could still be a nice person, but I would also have no conviction about discussing others behind their backs, lusting after women, the language that I do not use, and baling out on people in their time of need.

It takes religion to accomplish all this? I know many individuals who are not religious, don't believe in religion, who have the same qualities that you profess to possess.

And again, you've sidestepped the real question that I asked. What IF it is all a sham?

I'll bite. If religion is all a sham, there are no real consequences. So he spent his life believing in something that didn't exist. Ever hear of Santa Claus, or the Tooth Fairy? At the end of his life, he'll end up in a pine box just like everyone else, believer or not. Now if you PROVED to the world that there was no God or religion, that is a different scenario. But it would be impossible to prove or disprove, so no real use in arguing that.

Ahhhhhh, but you're missing the bigger implication. Some of the bloodiest and damaging wars in history were based on religion.

So now we have no basis for religion. Mohammed was a prophet who perpetuated the sham. The Bible is nothing but fiction. What happens to the world when everything they're squabbling about is no longer relavent.

To put it bluntly, the world now finds out that we're nothing more than insignificant life forms on a spec in the universe called Earth.

Holy Cow, we have a winner!!!!!!!

Here's the REAL holdup. People who have "faith" would basically have nothing to live for without it........
As for me, I'll watch out for my Son, Wife, Family and close friends. Likely, they will do the same for me and all will be well in my neck of the woods.
If I leave the office today and get creamed by a Mac truck, it was my time. Where I'll be after that?, Anyones GUESS. That's what it's all about folks!.
Unless you or someone you know has personaly experienced the after life, it's all just a big mystery...........

Now, did I hear something about Burnouts tonight at the Baptist church parking lot?????
