no0b here....looking for a new to me truck

cummins or powerstroke. i dont need a dually, but i want 4x4, diesel and atleast an ext cab, preferably a super crew. i need a back seat for my 3 yo in her car seat. i will want to pull a camper, undecided between a 5th wheel or a travel trailer. but it will be about 27-33'. i have a budget of about 10-15k for the new to me truck. suggestions? i am ford fan by far, but have been told to look into the cummins engine, specifically the 12v engine. advise/tips/suggestions are welcome!

Of the Strokes, Get a 99-02 7.3L. Of the 12v Cummins, Get 96-97.

what about the transmissions/diffs/transfer case? are there ones to avoid? it will be an auto tranny, and i prefer to not have to lock hubs. i either want to move a lever or push a button for 4wd

I am looking at a 01 F 350 crew dually 4wd, auto with 65,000mi. Push button 4wd. I am looking at it, it will be worth the money. I've heard bad things about the auto trans. Anyone else? I don't know much about Fords, but wouldn't mind getting one. I know Ford vs. Dodge can be debated FOREVER. And I don't care. I just want a dependable, strong pulling truck.
Hope you get what you want.
