Newman Wins 2008 Daytona 500

I dont know if theres any Dodge or Nascar racing fans on here but I just thought I would mention that this is the best start to a season in a long long time.

6 Dodges i the top ten spots.

I was about to give up with last years major slump I had lost all hope now that half the cars are Toyotas. But this is good news.

Newman is my man. He deserves it! First win in what, 66 races and it just so happens to be the 50th running of the Daytona 500. Congratulations Newman.

Also, huge props to Kurt Busch for his push there at the end. Great job for the Dodges. Both of my guys(Newman and Sadler) finished in the top 10. I couldnt be happier!!!!

I have a feeling Penske is going to pick up the pace this year.

Well I drive a DODGE on purpose, actually alot of them and if they switched to CAT id still drive a DODGE.

But anyway I was gonna quit watchin altogether and barely watched maybe 5 races last year and with half the field bein Toyotas I was over it and then low and behold this happens.

I guess I'll give it a go. But I find that even the guys I cant stand im pullin more for now as long as they are putting yotas behind em. The scene is changing and so are my opinions. But I suppose Nascar wanted a big time sponsor like Toyota so bad that they were willing to loose a few thousand loyal stand-bys for that. Heck Bill France said as much when they asked him about it.

Sell-outs.

Anyway Congradulations Newman/Busch/Kahne/Sadler/R.Gordon

It was a good race.

There were too many contendors put out by mistakes of others . The finish should have been better . That last caution really ruined it for Jeff Burton . As far as the comment on "American" cars , read this . http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...can-made-index
None of the "cars" racing in NASCAR made the list .

Even though I am a Dodge guy, and even more so am a Newman fan, I feel bad for Burton. He is such a class act and he and he worked his tail off. Problem was on that restart everyone got in the draft on either side of him and he went straight in the sucker hole. 1st to 13th in a matter of seconds.

Newman is a very good driver, on top of that he is very intelligent. The last couple of years have not been good for him.

Glad to see the Dodges ran well, just hate to see No-Neck and that punk Wingnut take 1-2. Apparently Tony should have hit him as hard as Jimmy Spencer did. I was done with Penske when my driver retired.

Now that Tony is out of the Chevy I can start rooting for him again...love the fact that he dotted Wingnuts' eye. We run Toyota power in the CORR series, and I owned two Toys before my Dodges.

Anybody else notice that DEJr is overexposed? Shot of the field, cut to Jr's in-car, field again, back to Jr's in-car, back to the field while talking about Jr, back to his in-car......was anybody else racing before the last 20 laps? Hard to tell by the announcing...

We were joking that NASCAR had 12 in-car cameras....all in the 88 car

The car is truly just a sticker and funding and a smidgin of eng. help on the over tech'd motors and bodies. My point is if I wanted to watch a nonstop toyota racing all I have to do is watch any of the other serieses they have joined in the last ten years.

OH well im just ranting cuz I hate big corporations and walmart, toyota and mcdonalds are some of the biggest. Just always have hated them always will. My mind is set and I dont wanna change it so my wife just accepts ia as one of my quirks.

You have to be to get an Engineering degree from Purdue. They weed out the "just sorta smart" ones early on.
