I have four Polaris. Sportsman 800,rzr 800 and two trail boss 330s all are great belt breakage is blown way out of reality. All mine are still on the factory belts.

I was eyeing the Sportsman 800 real hard. The deciding factor was the dealer.

Thanks

Picked it up today, ran it around for a minute. It has lots of power, can't wait to break it in Sunday.

Like you, I would love to find a new-old Suzuki or similar.
They didn't go sixty mph but they got you there without killing you.
They have to get heavier as they get more powerful. If not you'd have a ton of power- and the fuel use that goes with it- and still not be able to pull any more than an old 125 or 185 3-wheeler.

Congrats, you'll love it. I know several people with Polaris quads and they're pretty reliable. Had a kid working for me some years ago up in northern WI and he lost his drivers license. I wouldn't give him a ride to work with me, so he went and bought an old clapped out SPortsman 500 with like 10,000 mi on it.
It was 10mi form town by road or about 15mi by trail to the job. He "commuted" on that quad 30mi/day for several months and always made it to work!
Seems the Arctic Cat Quads get a bad rap, but I love mine. 08 650H1. It only has about 500mi on it, but has over 150hrs already (equivalent of 2000+ mi if trail riding). Few trail rides and 90% work, towing a 60" mower deck weekly for about 7months out of the year. Pulling a cart, landscaping, firewood, etc. Have winched over about 400 trees with the OE winch and the quad tethered to a tree. It has been flawless so far and I'd recomend it.

IMHO, too big and good luck rolling it back on its feet if something bad were to happen. I had a Polaris 700 for about 2 months before I traded down for a Rancher ES. The 700 was just too big to zigzag in and out of the trees on my way to the tree stand and too top heavy for side walking the hills.

Put 15 miles on it Sunday. Rode it through 2.5' of water and mud on the trails we hit. Climbed and descended some 10% grades. It worked flawlessly with power and traction to spare. Hits 70mph wot. Also impaled the left side fender skirt and my shin with a tree branch. Good to be back on the trails.

I had 2 kaw's 2 Suzukis & a can am 800, which I have now. Wife has the 700 King Quad suzuki- like the 3rd headlight...so..1st thing is to throw out that paper air filter (Read Junk) and get a foam washable one..Twin-air mfg brand is what I only use..change oil to a full synthetic (Your choice amsoil -mobile etc) and enjoy it!!

why do say the paper filters are junk. there all I use and no problems. no oil in the air box. no messy cleaning. I would never go to foam and oil. same with my truck factory filters only.
