are new products being rushed to market not ready for use?

i think the Ford 6.0 was just that - rushed into sales before design & testing were done.

and the more software & computer stuff that "races" to market - the more flawed it is (Dell Laptop battery fires)

i think that is why i needed 5 TSB's on my 06 - because the factory did not fully operate the vehicle in a variety of conditions to see if code p0514 would happen 3 times in the first week of ownership.

Harley Davidson has fell prey to this also, if you don't have a HD, don't buy one anytime soon. My 06 has the "normal" backfires, loud valve noise, and all that. short of beating the snot out of the whole service dept, there's not much you can do. they are idiots.

here's a 12 page Rant about Harley Davidson's inability to fix (or properly engineer) the product they are selling:

By the time we got it home from the dealers that afternoon we purchased it the better half was already complaining bitterly about it.

As an engineer, I have to ask, Is it being rushed to market, or are people just doing unexpected, unforeseen abuse on the equipment?

I know we rush to market, but thats because our outside sales will tell a customer something they dreamed about last night is ready. then we will find out about it after inside sales has tried to get one built.

Go spend some quality time with a Jeep Liberty CRD!

The more time I spend with ours the more I become convinced that Jeep/DCX was in a huge rush to fill a hole in the small SUV market by being the first kid on the block with a Diesel. Not that there's anything wrong with the Italian made VM Motori engine. It's a proven winner. I just honestly believe that whomever came up with the programming for the CRD KJ's either was rushed into getting it done, just to get it to market, or had no idea what they were trying to do. By that I mean getting a previously unused (by DCX) Diesel engine to work with a transmission that was designed to be driven by a Hemi gasser. There's also a list of mechanical items that a good percentage of CRD's are plagued with. CCV problems, rear brakes sticking, and ball joints. The latter of which has led to a recall for ball joint failures on all Libertys!

owned a 71 sportster? it broke so many times before 6k i cant remember them all. will never own an american made cycle again. now dont get me wrong i buy american when i can. will say this though. our manufacturers have been going down hill since the late 60s. i have a few design engineers that have told me of so-called bull sessions that said in effect. design to get out of warranty then we dont care. it will sell more parts and products. many times i have installed new products before all the electronics only to have the same problem. think it wont mess up ones mind. what did i do wrong? only spend the time and find out the part was bad out of the box. oh sorry we will give u another one. what about the time i wasted. sorry it aint covered. oh by the way i made plenty of mistakes too. probably more than most. but always took care of it.
