New Harley... now whose wife is the best?? :D

Pretty much since I met her, the wife has liked and, in fact, wanted a Harley. I had a crotch rocket when we got together, but sold it because I just wasn't riding it much anymore. We've looked around at HDs now and then and she's always been partial to a Fat Boy (no comments, however truthful they may be!). Then we talked for a while about getting her her own Sportster and eventually one of the bigger bikes for some two up riding now and then.

I almost got her one for her birthday last week. Good thing I didn't because when we talked about it, she decided that she'd really rather have me drive her around on one so she can sit up on the back and enjoy the ride.

We went looking around this weekend - I wanted to compare a Duece with a Fat Boy in person; the catalogue just doesn't really cut it - and found a Duece in Lava Red Sunglo for a really good price. We're going to put a deposit on it in the morning and pick it up at the end of the month. Just have to find a place to store it until winter's over (anyone near Newport, RI have some garage space??) so we can start riding it.

The color is her choice (my favorite is blue) but I have to admit, it looks spectacular on this model! We'll personalize it with her other obsession - coffee - by putting 'LATTE' or something like that on the plate.

Hopefully they didn't sell it in the half hour they were open after we left; we just didn't have our ducks in a row yesterday. We only went out to LOOK at bikes! So, we've talked about it over the weekend, looked at insurance and... well, we're going to call in the morning.

I love winter, but I'm going to have a big dilemma this year now....

Very nice ride.

You can bring down to Virginia and store it in my garage.
Plenty of room to share with my two.

of course I'd have to "exercise" it once in awhile,....gotta keep that oil circulated.

My wife has been hounding me to get back into bikes sence we got maried. I have always had one sence I was 12 now I am into ATVs. Alot of fun and I can trust my wife to have one of her own and not get hurt. She wants her own bike but I dont trust trafic to avaoid her if she kills it in trafic. My last 2 bikes where a croch rocket and a V45 Magna. When we where engaged I had the Magna and she would come over every nite for a ride. She wants me to get anouther one but I just cant justify or aford it with 2 ATVs in the garage. If I told her we where going to trade one for a bike tomarow she would be in 7th heaven.

While I was going through my first divorce in '91, I sold my Heritage and bought a Sportster. At 6'2" and 185, I looked like the proverbial monkey ridin' a coconut. I stopped by the Harley shop one day after meeting my current Mrs to use the facility. I knew the owners and sales folks... There sat a red '92 FatBoy. I jokingly said is that one mine knowing that back then the waiting list was almost a year long. He said sure, the guy that ordered it didn't get his financing as he's going through a divorce. I called my new Mrs and she said sure, go for it. I couldn't P fast enough so I could get back out and sign the papers! Then to top it off, after I got it all financed for an $8k balance after the sporty trade, she wrote a check and paid it off for me. She's a keeper! The Mrs is too! What makes it special is we both work for hourly wages and $8k is not pocket change for us.

Yea, I have been tight on money. Like right now. I knew I had to marry her, so I made sacrifices. Sold my Road King, My 1000 Kawi krotch rocket, my two race quads, and my old chevrolet. I felt like poop for getting rid of all of it. Every bit of those things had sweat blood and tears in them. I know, I worked for every piece of them. So I proposed, she accepted, we came home and said "Ohh my gosh hunny, someone broke in and stole out Garage!" I said, no they didn't dear, I sold everything. She said why. I said because she and our future was more important than any material thing was. Then I was just Saying it, but now I realize that it was the best thing I could have done. Now were to be wed In Feb, we have money for a honey moon, and our wedding, and our future children.

God Bless,
Dom

And her Father bought us both Quads when he heard what I did. He said, everything he ever thought about me had gone out the door, and that he knew I would do anything for her. Now all of us go riding, and live Happily, untill I have to pay for my wedding JK guys. remember, happyness is worth the world. Weather its two motorcycles and a ride into the sunset with only each other, or a family, or living. Just be happy.

Most dealers still have V-Rods on the showroom floor for sale.
My local dealer was knocking $$$ off to move 'em.
Not really a big hit as far as sales go.
