New Garage

I almost have it done. Maybe another 6 months and it should be completed. Started my Garage/addition almost 3 years ago. Have been building it on my own as time and money allowed. The HVAC systems were installed a couple weeks ago so I now have a warm and toasty place to park. I put in hydroponic floor heat in the garage slab as well as the addition floor. Works great!! Also put in a forced air AC/gas furnace but only ducted to living areas.

Working on the sheetrock finishing then the flooring. Garage is almost 1500 sq. ft. and rest of addition is over 2200 sq. ft. living space. I also have a man's bathroom in the garage itself. Sorry no good pic's to post but I'll see if I can take some later. Actually I think I have some in the camera that I haven't downloaded yet.

Hydroponic floor heat? I guess you meant to say hydronic radiant floor heat. You will enjoy it! I have it in my home and find that it heats each room evenly.

Thought I would grow the winter veggies and heat the place at the same time. So far the hydronic radiant floor heat has kept the garage at 70* with out any problem or seeming to work hard to maintain it. I hate cold and like my place on the warm side.

Time to plan a few more pillaging trips to pay for the paint and flooring.

Another 'Man-Cave' in progress...... cool.

I just finshed hanging the last pieces of plywood and sheetrock on the walls in mine this afternoon. (some "vacation" )
Now to mud and tape the ceiling and the top 2' of the walls.
Then paint and cabinets.
Hope to be ready by Spring.

Pirate, I was at Lowe's yesterday and I saw the perfect toolbox for your man-cave. It is about 6ft tall, 4 ft wide and 3 ft deep. It has a stereo and speakers built in as well as a beer fridge in the bottom left corner. It also has lights and power bars built in. Very cool tool chest.

Wink

ahhhhhh the smell of new drywall mud!!!!!!!
and the ever clean floor space, heh heheh

we built a framed two car garage attachment to our house for my dad's apartment many years ago with hydronic heat, in the thought that when he passed we would have a nice warm space to do our vehicle work- no more outdoors stuff!! yeah, welll .......it is too nice an apartment to change into a car garage and we have a huge barn. still doing the cold floor/cold tools shuffle.....

enjoy!!!! I have 15 year old garage floor paint...lol

one step at a time.....(but quicker than Bark's seven year pace!!)

Let me clarify something, the garage does not have the sheetrock hung yet. I am currently finishing the sheetrock in the living space. If Saturday is a decent day I'll take some pic's and see if I can get them posted.

This is a first time project of this size and magnatude. I'm not a builder but have done almost all of it myself with some side help. Remeber, I'm just a Pirate.

I used OSB for the first 8 feet of the walls in the garage.
No 'mud & tape' finishing, stronger if something bumps into it, and I don't have to find a stud everytime I want to hang something on the wall.
First coat of Bullseye primer went on yesterday, second coat today.......

Man Cave updates are great!
I went all OSB. I will be painting in the spring.
No matter how fast I want to get it done, other things take priority but its coming along slow but sure.
Drop down shelving was discussed and designed several times by myself, a Red Seal Carpenter and others. I went with what I thought was the way to go. I had friend's and a neighbor of mine put it up since the arm was/is not where it needs to be for that kind of work. Food and beer barter system works well. There is 24ft by 30" deep down one side...30" drop from the ceiling and 28ft the same size on the other side. Turned out awesome.
