New Duramax's

has anyone heard of any problems the chevy/gmc duramax's are having with the new emissions crap. my dad backed out of buying a dodge last week. he said that it "rode way to rough, worse than his 2000 1 ton ford". what ever, he's gettin up there in the age department and said that he wants a "comfy" riding truck. i think that there was more influence by mom on that one though. but anyhoo, just wonderin if they are havin any of the same minor problems that the cummins is? looks like he's gonna try a gmc this week. the chebys are kinda ugly imo and his.
thanks

The Chevy's do ride nice, for what he is looking for. I have not heard of any major problems they are having. I know two people locally that have new models, and have they have had no problems as of yet.

My cousin has a brand new D-max, he tows a 37ft 5ver with it. He traded his 04 LB7 that he put an Edge juice w/attitude on, he said to me that his new LMM out pulls his 04 set on level 3, plus he loves the new 6spd tranny. He has had no problems with it yet.

It is butt ugly though.

I do like the new GMC's. Not sure if I would buy one, but I do like them. They look 10x better than the Cheby's.

I absolutely hate the new 1/2 ton Chevy Silverados. The 3/4 and 1 tons look the best. I saw a Z82 1 ton yesterday towing a boat. The hoss looked bad. But in auto class right now, all we are having is car wars, trash talking all auto companies that people in the class like. It's pretty fun. And the only engine they can't touch, Cummins I said something bout buying one and everyone in that class said that's the best diesel engine.

Aftermarket bumpers make the Chevy's look pretty good in my opinion.

Anything aftermarket will make the chevy look better!!!!!!
Also from what I hear, the new motors are really supposed to be bad@$$. and very durable. I was almost considering getting 1, and I HATE CHEVYS!!!!! what really made me say no was

UGLY LOOKS, but hey, it was gonna be a work truck!!
PRICE, omg, freaking HIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Driving down the highway and what do you mostly see???!!!???!!!
I went DoDgE, and yes they have the worst ride!!!! but they are the cheapest

I too like the looks of the GMC over the Chevy. But boy, they both have LOW ground clearance under that frame, and that's before you load it up!! Got no beef about the engine or tranny though. We have one at work, quiet, pulls like a freight train, and comfy.

P.S. Why do Powerstrokes do so good in front end crash tests??................

Because the tow truck absorbs most of the impact!!

It does, but aftermarket kits take care of that, and who keeps a diesel stock nowadays anyways?

Yes, I saw that exhaust a couple days ago and all I can say is D@$#. They must be cahoots with after market exhaust companies, cuz I bet no one leaves that miniature rocket thruster lookin thing on there long
