New commute and I'll see ya when I can

Well, the transfer happened. Starting 1 Jun, I'll be commuting 125 miles one way for work every day. New site will be in/near Greenville Ky. May end up having to move, but that's a later decision.

Will not have access to the net for some time since the new site is secured. Thanks for the information and fun. I'll check back in when I get the chance.

Fuel $$ fund will be set up for any good samaritans....

I thought about it. I'm going to try to stick it out and get a transfer to a closer location. A lot of luck will be needed though. State Civil Service at its' best.........

Hi Ed!

My best wishes for you commute and especially for your carreer!

Maybe you should contemplate some econobox or even getting some room close to the new jobsite.250 miles a day translate to 5500 miles per average work month (assuming 5 day weeks)

At 3 bucks a gal. for fuel you could purchase a pull behind, second hand camper trailer, stay near work during the week to stay safe and rested up, and be way ahead. Good luck whatever you do.

Per Deim????? This is the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky. I get 45 cents a mile for the first 30 days. They "MIGHT" find the funds to help with moving if that happens. I'm hitting the computer getting myself on ALL jobs with the state system in my closer area.

I need to stick it out if I can, as 7 years from now, I can take early retirement from the state. That has some good bennies if not full pension.

I hate to admit it, but I did look at a KIA RIO this afternoon. May take it for a spin next week. 38 mpg, $9500, 10 year warrenty.

if you are looking to go this route, here is a great site for FEMA trailers for sale. I bought one last year from them. it was a 28 ft. Jayco Jayflight with a 14 ft. slider. It was sweet, still had the plastic on the seats. I paid roughly half of retail price. You have to look through the listings for a good one with the sliders
