New antispyware program from Microsoft free

You can download the new anti spy ware program beta version from Microsoft Here

It will only work until they come out with their final release in about 6 months, but it is free to try until then.

I second Hoss. Too many companies are in bed w/ M$ also. I've been very happy with the >free< Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition. You can get it at http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

No matter what you use, make sure you update the spware definition file each run.

Did you note the indictment against SpyBot for adding spyware into your system when you download their spyware program. It loads into your computer the very thing it is killing from other companies. HMMMMM Now, who can you trust?

I was really just kidding.

BUT....if you wanted to load spyware on someone's computer....what better way to do it than to load it onto a spyware killing software!!

I run, spybot, adaware, bazooka, and tried Microsofts new one. They all find things the others don't so looks like it is best not to put all your eggs in one basket

That would make perfect sense if they're all loading spyware onto your computer. OF COURSE they won't find the spyware that THEY loaded on your computer. Just get all of them and then you have a good system of checks and balances.

How's that for a conspiracy theory??

Even better...run Linux. I've been Microsoft free for five years now.

If I hadn't already seen it on the web, I would have thought Top was pullin' our leg, mentioning "Microsoft" and "free" in the same sentence. Figures, though, get you hooked on it for free then start charging.

Yay, Linux!

It's a blessing in disguise that there is only one operating system on the planet, Windows. (Yes, I know that there are about 100 different versions, but at least they all are somewhat similar.)

Has anybody gotten DirectX to work on Linux yet? Haven't used it for years, when my buddy had it... I don't know how you folks can manage.

Anyone running a Mac OS? I've had such good luck with HP and Compaq running Winders, I'm thinking of trying an Apple laptop.
I downloaded Spybot one time. It slowed down my computer to the point I was sure it loaded some spyware. I had to restore my OS to get it all back to speed.

Hey world!!! I look at nekid wemmings on the net!!! Now get over it already!!!

Most of what is labeled as "spyware" is simply cookies that are used to track your web surfing habits. The really nasty stuff is actual software that gets loaded to startup and sends out private data and sucks up cpu cycles.

I paid for AdAware SE Pro which includes AdWatch which prevents anything from being installed without my knowledge. That way I don't have to run scans all the time. Well worth the cost. I just wish that the Anti-virus people would take a hint and include spyware scans in their products.
