Need a little help please.

A little off topic, but are there any Forklift guys out there? need help w/ a Cat GP40 i'm looking at buying. need info on it or at least where to get some info. i don't know the year/engine size. ect. looks to be strikingly clost to a 3.0 or a 3.0 v-6 chrysler motor i would be thankful for any help/ info. Thanks Scott

as far as overall forklift.
get on it, drive it, run it thru its paces. look for slop in the steering and controls. listen for pump cavitation under full load, listen for air in the system (squeaking cylinders or pumps). check the fluid, ask for maintenance records, under full turn or heavy load, the motor should stall (if the pump is strong)

Thanks, the basic prob. is it dosent run. i can get it dirt cheap but i want to have a little info on it, it's 8000# solid tire has side shift. a V-6 gas motor.
lotta hr's but it'll just be for my shop to move trucks and parts around. i think it's cheap enough that even if it need mt or trans work i'll still be ok. carrage/rack, boom all seem tight.

If you have checked the basics (fuel, spark, timing) Im at a loss.

Give the VIN number to a Cat service department and they should be able to give you info .
