Need help w/brakes on mini van!!!
Ok, wife has a 2005 Chrysler town and country, she drove it until this weekend when I heard her pull into our driveway! The brakes were making all kinds of noise, so I took off the right side tire and found no pad left on the backside and the front didn't have much left either, so I just put new rotors and pads on and it drives and works great other than when I am driving I hear a clicking noise in the front as soon as I apply brakes it quits.... any ideas on what I did wrong or missed??? this isn't my first brake job, just never had an issue like this before, thanks for any help.
I would guess that it depends on the manufacturer. I used to work for a family owned branch of a national autoparts chain and the owner of our branch who was a 3rd generation autoparts store owner told us that only the premium line that we sold was trued before leaving the factory. All other lines were sold as-cast and should be turned before being installed.
That said, unless you get other symptoms of a warped rotor, they may be close enough to leave as-is. I certainly have done and will continue to do what you did and use new rotors out of the box without turning them first.
Might ask your autoparts store and if they are supposed to be true but the counter help may or may not know.

lets break this down just a bit
1. noise is heard while driving and goes away when applying the brakes.
its not a warped rotor. it sounds like the retaining clips for the pads may be broke on 1 side or the pad itself.
warped rotor would cause a pulsation when braking and you are not complaining about a pulsation.
2. never ever ever heard of needing to turn a brand new rotor EVER. we buy aftermarket rotors all the time and never have never will turn a new rotor. and for the comment about "only the preminum ones are trued at the factory" is crap. if the cheap ones were just cast and sent out, they would not have a MACHINED surface. a machined surface = trued surface

You're kidding, right? Even I have heard about having to turn new rotors. Never done it, but heard about it! And after I put new drums on the big truck, I now find that I have a slight pulsation when I apply the brakes. Don't know if it's front or rear, but it's there. I've heard of turning new big truck drums too, but like the rotors, never done it. This is the first time in 30 years that I've had a problem with a warped drum.

Took everything apart again (just to be sure
) put it all back and everything is all good. Now to find time to fix my trucks' A/C!!
