Need help craigslist/ebay am I about to be scammed?

I am selling an item and I got this reply-

Hello, i will not be able to come look at it at your place due to my tight schedule for now. I would be happy in picking up the unit in person at my leisure time, it's advisable to make arrangement on how to get the unit shipped via my shipper without you paying for any cost. I will be sending you a money order/certified Checks as a form of my payment. All i need in order to get this done is your full name and mailing address where payment will arrive, If you wish to compromise with this payment method ,I will be sending you an excess in which you will send to my shipper as soon as you faithfully deduct your own part of the payment...I'm doing this cos my schedule for now is so tight and i'm intersted in buying it. kindly get back to me with all what i requested above in order to finalize payment immediately. Thanks
P.S:- I will be offering you $XXXX. As for the pickup you dont have to pay a dime for it cos my shipper will be responsible for the pickup to destination and they will come for the pickup immediately the cheque clears,My advice for you as a seller is to remove the item off Craig list,I will like to read from you if this is okay by you. I await your info for quick payment.

Is this legit or is this a scam. I had this happen on another item I was selling and told they guy I wasnt interested. But this item I have for sale isnt moving as quick and needs to go. Thanks for any input, Ryan.....

You already know this is a scam, don't do it. Tell him to get the cash and come get it, or move on.

You'll cash the check and two weeks or so later comes back bounced and your stuck holding the bag. Tell him Paypal or cash in person and nothing else!!

Tell him as soon as the check clears, you will work out the shipping arrangements. Lots of fake bills floating around too...

Thanks guys I figured if I had to ask something was wrong. But again thanks for the heads up and another reason why this site is great and has saved my butt on several occasions. Man the warden would have been super mad had I screwed up the deal, and outside in the dog house in the heat we are having with my stinky slobery Mastiff would have been horrible .

Have a good weekend gents.

Good luck on the sale too. I have been looking at getting a truck up from the US and making the deal is sorta tough unless I go to a dealer. Also flying all over the country isn't very cost effective. The money transfer is the only kicker. A wire transfer? Once you have the money, then his shipper could take it.

Any one can buy Quickbooks and print their own checks. Usually they are with someones identity stolen account number. I tell them to bring cash or stay home. Most of the time I use more colorful words

I advertise alot on craigslist and be VERY careful ryan. I gets lots of those replys on there on I saw your ........... for sale and I will have my shipper pick it up and can you hold my check for $10k over until I can come get the item? I wont tell you how I respond but its normally not nice the whole scamming thing gets old and I have been scammed personally and had to get the police involved. sell your stuff in person is what I do its alot safer

Plain, simple, and easy way to deal with any buyer or seller, whether it be off of ebay, craigslist, or even here in the classifieds, is if they cannot type a full sentence without using correct grammar and spelling, and don't have a decent history on the site, then I politely tell them to get lost.

That is absolutely, positively a scam.

Another huge red flag is that it doesn't metion what the "item" is.

I'm sure that same message gets pasted in to messages sent to tons of sellers, maybe even by a bot...

The only thing he forgot....

was to tell you to send any excess monies to his broker at his off shore account. Run, don't walk away from this guy, he's a thief.

Tell him you'll deliver it via flying monkeys, and they'll pick up the check on delivery.

When will these nitwits learn to use proper English in their scams?
