need computer help

1. Are you backing up to an external hard drive or to the same hard drive that says only 4% remaining.
2. How many hard drives do you have in your computer.
3. Are you hard drives partitioned. i.e. one 400 gig hard drive split into 2 200 gig hard drives.
4. How big is your hard drive(s).
5. Do you have any antivirus/anti malware software installed, if so what is the name. If not download avg free, install, update and scan your entire comuter. you can get it here -> http://www.avg.com/product-avg-anti-virus-free-edition.
Let me know, I'll be here all night.

The hard drive is partitioned into two the c: drive which is my main has only 39.0 gb with 1.23gb of free space but my d: drive which I back up my files to has 72.7 gb with 69.6 gb of free space. Can I change it so my c drive has more space or split it equal?

More questions... Sorry
What backup program are you using??
What kind of files are you keeping on your hard drive that are taking up space? video, pics, large graphic files?
It sounds like who ever set up you computer had this in mind. Which is very good.
You have a main hard drive for all of your programs, and a large accessory drive for all of your files.
Depending upon your answers above, this should be an easy fix. I do need to know what virus programs you are running also...
BTW - this is getting into some fairly private info so if you would like you can im me at starkj88@yahoo.com.
as long as things are running rock solid, go to my computer, right click your hard drive, select properties, just to the right of the disc pie chart you will see disc cleanup. click that, it will think a bit, and then pop up a box showing how much space you can lear out..... but on top you will see a tab marked more options. click that, and like I said, if all is runnign good, chose remove all but the most recent restore point. then go back and hit ok onthe disc cleanup tab and you should have a few gigs to play with. You can also copy off all your photo's to cd or dvd disc and remove the images from your computer. long term life of a cd or dvd ? not sure but tons of space to be had there, as with any videos or music. all done with the above, then load up ccleaner and run it, trust it and allow it to fix all reg errors, no need for a backup, and let it clear all the temp stuff as well.
No anymore. Well not very easily.

Okay Doorguy,
Do what mikmaze said to do. If that works great. If not...
I think that at this point you have one of two problems.
1 your hard drive is full just with everyday stuff.
2 you have a virus that is basically making you operating system think the hard drive is full. Doesn't matter how it does it, but I have seen it.
Symantec although widely used it not a very good antivirus program. in my opinion.
Good news is, you still have internet access, so just in case go to here -> http://www.avg.com/product-avg-anti-virus-free-edition. download this file into your d drive, not you c drive. We may not need it, but if you do, it will be there. Let me know if mikmaze thread works. Hopefully we are done. If not we will trudge ahead. Send me an email to jeff.stark@scientificdrilling.com so I can get some other info from you, we may have to do this over the phone if everything comes crashing down.
