Need to boost that cell

I have US Cellular service and need, on occasion, to boost my signal strength to reduce dropped calls. I've got a Wilson Trucker cellular antenna but it required a plug-in connection to the phone and I'd like to rig it so that 2 phones can use the same antenna; maybe even an air card eventually. I see that Wilson has a 3 watt booster that's supposed to not require a plug-in connection.

Has anyone tried one of these? I'd like to get some feedback on them before I lay out that much cash for one. FWIW, I'm going to want to keep it mobile so that I can use it at home, in the car, or in the travel trailer.

Thanks in advance.

I have been considering that exact unit as I don't really want to pay $200 for a phone cradle. They retail for about $500 here at the local electronics/phone shops..

My Dad has a Wilson booster. Works pretty good if the phone is close (within the cab) to the antenna. Not a problem if you use a hands free kit or earbud.

Thanks for the feedback.

As I understand it, there is an internal antenna that connects to the booster (powered by the cig. lighter) that connects to the external antenna. That allows the cell phone to wirelessly connect to the internal antenna and then be boosted thru the external antenna. Is that a pretty accurate understanding?

I already have a Wilson Cellular Trucker antenna so the booster and the internal antenna/connection is what I need as I understand it.

I just got back from some work out in the sticks and the operators and the onsite supervisor had these very boosters. They work pretty well with up to 4 simultanious connections (computer, phones) and it is true, the closer the better the boosting of the signal. The super uses his palmone as his air-card and just sets it on top of the internal antenna (looks like a small flat remote control) to get full boosting. He had it in his RV/office and made a big difference for me to go from 1-2 bars up to 4 right through the doorway.

I am getting one of these units RFN!!!...

I got one in my international, I think it was a good investment. I have at&t and at the house I get 1-2 bars, when I jump in the truck the signal pegs out. As a matter of fact I'm using it right now to boost the signal in my laptop card. You shouldn't be disappointed.

Just bought the kit.. The local cellular install shop in Red Deer had stacks of them in the boxes and they had also units ready to go in Pelican cases for portability... Out the door with antenna for $350. They have really come down in price since I last checked. The unit alone is only $250..
