Well, when you're on a narrow road and a dump truck drives a little too close, your mirror never wins. I have the fold out mirrors (they weren't folded out at the time), and i was on a 4 lane road at a stop light in the right lane. Light turns green, see dump truck in rearview mirror, as dump truck passes, hits a bump, spring attaching tailgate to truck flexes, and it sounded like a gun shot. Luckily, my truck didnt get hit, just the mirror. It's ridiculous how much those things cost aftermarket. I guess manufacturers figure insurance companies mostly cover costs like those, so they can jack up the costs, but whatever. The guy was real nice about it, i caught up to him and stopped him. He bought me a new mirror, so the story ends well.
