Mindless Television Drivel

Has anyone noticed that broadcast TV is now basically useless except for "brain candy"? Was really bored so thought I'd turn on the idiot box. Guess I was the idiot, cuz of the 5 stations I get, 1 had the race on, (not bad), just so much static you could not tell who was who. The other 4 all had infomercials. Who watches junk like that?

Oh well, guess I'll find something better to do. After all, I am at work today.

Get cable or satellite. Then you'll have hundreds of channels of drivel!

Actually, with cable, I like the Speed channel, TechTV, and the History channel.
After those three, there isnt much more that interests me.

We need DTR-TV! 24 hours of Diesel Truck shows.
Pulls,
Drags,
Diesel Engine Tech hour,
Whats New: Diesel News.
EPA updates.
Interviews with Cummins, Dodge, GM, Ford, Cat, Mercedes, International, ...
Diesel Hot Rod hour,
Etc, Etc, Etc.

But, then again, I suppose we'd have to see Top every day!

Top, what do you think? Want to be a celebrity spokesman/anchorman? DD has a good idea.

Just ain't got no cable around here. Runs about 2 miles from the house and quits. At work, donated antenna is it. Satellite maybe, if we could get your new DTR-TV.

C'mon Top, we know you can do it.

The discovery channel, history channel, TLC, and Cartoon Network are my favorites.

The shear volume of commercials is rediculous. I'm to the point where I can't listen to them any more so I always hit the mute button during the commercials. Seems to help quite a bit. My mind fills up with less garbage! Remember when cable first came out and there wasn't supposed to be any commercials?

Ever noticed how a half hour show is getting shorter and shorter.

They used to be around 23 minutes, the rest was commercials.

Now they hover around 19 minutes, with the rest taken up by commercials.

An hour long show is now about 42 minutes, if you're lucky.

ABC is getting ridiculous. Don't watch it with your kids around. They are pushing their agenda - - which seems to be teaching us how to swear, how to have sex with everything that talks to you and homosexuality. Really sick of having it crammed down my throat. Sure glad for FOX cable.

I've grown up watching the Looney Tunes, The Flintstones, the Jetsons, all of those old cartoons (and some of the new ones). Dad still laughs at bugs and he's 48 years young. It's nice to be able to flip something light hearted on every now and then and laugh. The world's gotten so violent and complicated that you need something light hearted and simple. At least I do. I also like to watch the 3 Stooges (once again, blame it on dad ).

As far as the job, I'm out in the sun about 8 hours a day mowing pastures, fixing/building fences, fixing stuff around the barn, working on the tractor, painting, you name it. Start at 8 and end at 4 6 days a week.

TV sucks and FM radio ain't much better. That's why I'm going to XM here shortly. At least I can solve one of my problems. 12 different radio stations and all of them are either playing crud or commercials.

They way the weather has been here, I've only had good weather to get the work on the house done on the nights I like to watch PBS. Good outdoor/home improvement shows, with the local intrest and travel. Then it all goes to crap when Lawrence Welk comes on.

Yep, shorter shows and fewer new ones each year. Used to be a time when a series would air new episodes pretty much every week, with a short break over summer. Now they get 4 - 5 months off over summer, plus a christmas break, plus a "spring break" of a month.

Wish I could find a job like that.
