mill / lathe projects?

I'm taking a course in machining at a local tech college. Was hoping for some suggestions of good projects

I’m thinking of making a few tools for gunsmithing. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

I took 2 yrs of machining in high school and made some tools that I would use alot. some of the things I made were ballpean hammer out of steel, made a meat tenderizing hammer from aluminium, some clamps, a small machinist vise, and a couple paintball gun barrels for some friends.

Make it interesting .... how 'bout a reversed double helical gear with a 64 spline hole in the middle ??

Every machinist worth their salt has made an air or steam driven motor at some point in their career. Give that a shot .... fun to dig out and play with for years afterward.
