TRUCK FOUND!

Well my truck was found today. A buddie of mine was driving a lowboy in tacoma and spotted it alongside the freeway. He pulled over and checked it out, the tires are gone, stereo system, and canopy, along with all the rest of my stuff in the bed and cab. He would have loaded it up, but he had his boost axle on the deck of the lowboy and the truck wouldn't fit. He said it started right up, but it smoked real bad so I don't know if they sugared the tank or just beat the hell out of it or what. It is at an inpound yard down there and I won't be able to pick it up untill monday. I will keep everyone informed on what I find when I get the truck back. Thanks for everyone's support and help. DJ

Re:TRUCK FOUND!

I have had my truck stolen twice. both times they wanted the winch off the front. The first time it was gone for three weeks, the second it was gone for two. The second time when I got it back it smoked BAD. I think it may have been idled for a long time and then the short starts and stops at the repair shop.
I drove the crap out of it until it stoped smoking (three or four miles) and havn't had a problem since. I have had it on a dyno to measure the blow by recently and it hasn't changed from the day I bought it.

Re:Member's Stolen Truck Recovered!

At least you got it back....

Was it sitting on blocks? Didnt steal the front bumper?

You should be able to tell if they sugared it.....there should be some evidence of sugar around the fuel filler.

Good luck....

Re:Member's Stolen Truck Recovered!

Glad you found it, and get most of it back.

Sounds like it was taken for the quick cash goodies.

Stuff easily pawnable to get the daily fix of whatever they need a fix of.

Hope it all works out quickly.

Re:Member's Stolen Truck Recovered!

It's great news to hear your truck was recovered!
Hopefully there is not much damage done and you'll be back on the road soon as normal.

There's a lot of low life creatures in the world that would get great pleasure in messing up something some else had worked long and hard to get..

I'm glad you found it, also!

We had changed the front page of our website to show it was stolen and to help people look for it. Guess we can change it back now....

I put a Kill Switch on my '95 last year. I'm mighty glad I did when I hear stories like yours!

Re:Member's Stolen Truck Recovered!

Nope they didn't take the bumper thankfully. I spent quite a bit of time fabricating that bumper, its 5/16" 6061 aluminum it is extremely light compared to steel bumpers like it. I can pick the entire bumper up with one hand! It is as strong as a 3/16" steel bumper but without the weight. It mounts on a subframe that is built out of steel which holds the winch. That is really the only none replaceable item on the truck. I am going to pick up the truck on monday. I am anxious to see what all is missing and what the deal with it smoking is. DJ

Re:Member's Stolen Truck Recovered!

xzlram,

Happy to here you got your truck back.

I get really upset > when people do this type of thing. We work our tails off trying to get ahead and to have nice things and then some low life steals it. Being in the construction business for years, it really burns me when someone in the trade has their tools stolen! > Now that low life has just taken someone's ability to make a living away from him! >

I hope there are fingerprints and the catch that scum!
