I am curious to find out how many TDR members are also registered members here on the DTR.

Interesitng question. I guess it kind of goes along with the other poll in a way. I used to be a member, but my membership ran out a couple of years ago when I started this site.

To be honest, and give them credit where it's due, the magazine is pretty good. I was a subscriber for a couple of years, but really wanted to do my own because although they do a lot of things great, I really had no say in how I thought some things should be run. Hence the reason for this site.

If for no other reason, the magazine is worth it because you can keep those issues and just tear out a page so to speak when you're working on a project. Of course then again, you can print articles from a website and throw them away when you're done. I honestly think this is where we're lacking. We need more technical articles and a more comprehensive knowledge base to search for information and specific problems. The bad part is that I have found it somewhat difficult to implement with open source software. There could be another purchase in our future.

I've browsed the TDR on occasion, and it's just not as much fun as it is over here. I've been thinking bout a magazine as well.

Not any more...

I signed up for 1 year, found this site probably a 1/4 way thru my subscription, never thought the magazine was really worth it (have since thrown out the few issues I did receive), pretty much never been back there. Checked in once or twice and just don't find it as interesting as this place. Just seems too hostile over there too often, or at least it did when I was a member. I was scared to say Hi for fear of being slammed for saying it the wrong way or something...

Jack, if you need some tech doc management software give me a holler. Maybe a project we're working on would be right for this site. (It runs under Linux and Apache)

This may be true, but until you mentioned TDR in your original poll, I never knew it existed, and quite honestly I can't see any reason to go look at it either.

This site is the greatest as far as I'm concerned, and it's the first place I go after checking my e-mail everyday. I have gained more knowledge here in the 6 months since I joined than I have in the last 20 years!

Tech articles would be a nice addition, but anything you might need to know can be found here just for the asking.

Thank you Jack for this site. And thank you also, to all the people that make it 'work'!

chaikwa.

I am, but only until this years membership runs out. I am already getting notices that my membership will run out soon. Hey, I still have eight more months left.

I guess they are right. (It's all relative)
